Re: What did you like and dislike about your hospital?
I delievered at NSU Plainview and had a wonderful experience. The entire staff was incredibly nice and helpful. I had my own suite which was a plus. The whole room just for me and DH (who was allowed to stay over) with a private bathroom and shower. They were very linent (sp?) about visiting hours. I think they were over at 9:00, my sis drove down from school in PA and didn;t get there till 11 and they let her in no problem. My last night there, they had a nice dinner for Nick and I.
The only dislike - how quick they kick you out, but I guess that is more the insurnce co. I delivered at 9:10pm on Thrusday and checked out at 11:00am on Saturday

I had my son (5 years ago) at Stony Brook. I loved the fact that I had a private room, the staff, for the most part was helpful, and it was CLEAN! The one thing I didn't like is that they were way too lax with how many visitors I had. I had over 10 visitors in my room at one point and it's just too overwhelming. All I wanted to do was sleep and bond with my baby and IMMEDIATE family, and they let way too many people in at one time.

I delivered at Southampton Hospital. The people were WONDERFUL. L&D nurses are the best people in the world. Since I had a c-section I was in the room right by the nurses station which was RIGHT NEXT TO THE NURSERY. I loved being by my baby when she wasn't in the room with me. The room was great. I was alone.
Bad: The food was pretty gross and flavorless. I needed help getting up out of bed and some of the attendants were like UHHHH do I have to can't you do it yourself? I felt bad asking them after the 4th or 5th time.
The room I had had an adjoining room closed off by a door. There was a woman in the next room who would complain all the time about her babies daddy (she was 30 weeks annd having contrax). She would yell at him and b*tch to others about him. I had to listen to this for 2 days!!! I wanted to kill her. I was having a happy time and she was annoying.
Other than that it was great!

I had billy at north shore manhasset, also where I am having this baby and I can't even describe how absolutley wonderful the staff is there. They are wonderful kind people, and the hospital itself was clean clean clean. They made it a beautiful experience for me

I did OB rotations at North Shore Manhasset, NSUH @ Plainview, and New Island Hospital. NS Manhasset and Plainview were awesome! Manhasset was the best IMO, the nurses there are excellent, they are very knowledgeable, and many of the nurses have been there for 10 or more years. That is a good sign when the nurses stick around! The equipment is up to date, and they really know how to deal with a heavy patient load. It has been a while since I did the rotation at Plainview, but that was also an excellent experience. Caring and attentive staff is what I remember. I did not care for New Island Hospital. Many of the nurses there (not all of them, but many of them) were rude to us students, new moms and thier families. Thier nursery is short staffed, and they do not have a NICU. Although they will send a baby that requires intensive care to Winthrop, I would want the peace of mind to have that kind of care on site. Hope this helps some!
