What did YOU need when you got home from the hospital?
Original post by michele31
We all have lists and lists of what baby needs, but I am curious what made you feel better or what 'supplies' you needed. I was thinking of getting mother's milk tea and I heard witch hazel on cotton helps 'special' areas feel better....anything else? I also have the house being cleaned while I am in the hospital so I don't have to worry about that right away.
Too bad you cannot buy 'sleep'

My hospital had the ones with adhesives. I took all the leftovers as I was encouraged to by the nurses. I gave the unopened packs to my (expecting) friends so they would be able to use them if their water broke before they got to the hospital. No regular pads will help you keep dry if your water breaks. Have the longest, thickest pads available in case this should happen.

DO NOT bring a really nice robe to the hospital! You will be so upset if it gets blood stains on it! Just take a robe that's 'good enough' to keep you covered and comfortable. Save the nice ones for when you are home with your angel!

IMO pj's arent the greatest to take to the hospital if they have legs.. I remember the bleeding being very heavy and always having the nurse help me change constantly in the bed. I had used a short gown or nightshirt so that I didnt have to worry about taking anything off of me and didnt worry about staining anything but my underwear and the sheets.

I call all my PJs, PJs. But I have 2 nightshirts for the hospital and a pair w/legs for home.

I don't think I'd be comfy in a nightie.
How 'bout PJ's that have shorts? Would they work?

The shorts and the pants could work, but you should expect that they may get messy I wore nursing nightgowns and I was more comfortable with so many changes of the pads AND the ice packs - don't forget that you'll have ice packs 'down there' for days...

I think I found the hospital's nightgown the best because it has 'easy access' (for both changing pads and nursing) and it will most likely get stained.
