Re: what do i do?????
First off, congrats on your engagement!!
If you plan on getting married in 2009, I would start looking at RH's. Many are booking and you want to make sure that you can get the available date at the place you want.

Re: what do i do?????
it looks like you have less than a year to plan, so you've got a lot on your plate!
Start right away with looking at a location for both the ceremony and the reception (church and hall, basically, if those are the routes you're going).
Next, I'd look for a photographer and band/dj, followed by a videographer and florist.
While you're doing that, you'll want to be thinking about what colors you want, and trying on dresses, both for yourself and your bridesmaids.
So, this is the order I'd go in: locations photographer band/dj videographer (if you choose to do one, I recommend it) florist attire (your dress first, then bm dresses and finally tuxes)
good luck!

I agree!! First of all...congratulations and the best of luck!!! You need your date, RH and church (if you are getting married there). Then your dress (because it takes time). After that, book the photographer, and while you are doing that ...think of the theme and colors. Everything pretty much falls into place after that. DJ, florist, BM dresses...etc.

Re: what do i do?????
Hi, Congratulations!!!! You must be so excited. I would definitely start looking at ceremony and reception locations. Next, I would book your photographer.
Best of luck, Kim
P.S. LIW is a great resource. I would definitely check out vendors on here before making appointments. There is a lot of excellent reviews and feedback.

Congrats on your engagement!! You should get the main thing out the way which is your RH. Do you have any idea what venues who might be interested in?

Welcome!
Pick a date and make sure that your reception hall and church, or ceremony site, are both available. That's a must to really get started.
Have fun!

Congratulations on your engagement!!
I would start looking into RH's as soon as possible. Try to book your major vendors as early as you can, because the more 'popular' vendors book up very quickly.
Before you start looking into halls and vendors you should figure out what your budget is. From there figure out when you want to get married - what year? do you have a certain month in mind? The day of the week is also a huge factor - as a rule of thumb Saturday nights are (generally) the most $$. The next step is to come up with a tentative guest list - all RH's have a minimum that you must guarantee, so you'll need to have an idea how many guests you're expecting.
Lots of luck with your planning, and if you have any questions, ask away. That's what we're all here for!

Re: what do i do?????
Congrats first of all. Second start getting ideas of what you want If you are going to be getting married in a church-make sure they are available for the date(s) you would like, then start with the RH-you have to make sure both are open for your date.
Then go from there
Good Luck

Re: what do i do?????
Congrats!!! If you're looking to get married in january(09) I would start looking at Reception Halls now. I got engaged two weeks ago and book my RH within a week because a lot of dates were booked, I wanted the 17th but the 16th was the only date available. GL!!

Re: what do i do?????
Congratulations!!!!! Thats so awesome, YAY !!! I found getting a idea of a guest list helped me with everything, once I did that I knew how much I could spend on a hall & then the rest of my budget fell into place. Budget was the most important thing to me.

Re: what do i do?????
You should probably look and search for a reception hall........then start looking for photography, video, music, flowers and etc.

Congrats!!!!!!
RH first... they get booked far in advance, and once you find that, you can shop around for everything else.

Re: what do i do?????
first stop: BUDGET <--you need to know what you're working with before you can make decisions.
then i'd say you should settle on a general feel (i.e. theme, season, etc.) pick a RH, and everything kinds goes from there.

Congratulations!!
I suggest you first determine budget, rough draft of a guest list and time of year you would like to get married.
Next look for halls since that will probably be the largest chunk of your budget.
