what do I do next?

wow, my wedding is in 6 months and I haven't registered yet! I did make my favors, send out save the date notes with an engagement pic, book the hall and church and photographer. I think my post about Duval photography is still on here, I hope they are good! Also VIP keeps popping up as good and reasonable. I don't have a DJ yet either, or limos. but I think we are going to get one of those mini-buses instead of limos. Good luck!!

I already am but what the heck I want to enjoy my engagment as much as I can plus the more we can save, the better it is for us. What have you done so far? I have to register and is it too early to send out announcements?

YEs, everyone seems to have a comment about my 'long' engagement. I totally agree with you. I am finding the less I tell people the better it is for my sanity as well as my Fiancee. Can you believe that people are actually asking us how much we are paying a head at the caterers??!!! Talk about nerve!!!! The only thing we have done so far is book the caterers, and send out announcements. I do not know where you live but I got a good deal on my announcements, From someone who works out of there home. The lady is in the Bethpage area. I can give you her name and # if you want. My catereers is Chateau Briand , and we registered at Fortunoff's. Feel free to e mail me back if you want to chat or let off some steam....My e mail is [email protected]. Good luck with everything!!!!

My attendants to be haven't gotten to that extent of what we are paying. Congrats on the Chateau Briand-which room do you have? I live near Bethpage so I can speak to your contact on the announcements. I will e-mail you in the morning. Our server just went down at work. Thanks!

We heard alot from people when we told them that we were having a 2 year engagement. Mainly, it was from older family members and friends of my parents who kept asking why we were waiting so long. Money was the biggest issue and mainly because we wanted to take our time, enjoy ourselves and get the vendors we wanted. Continued success to all! Karen

We took the Saturnia room at the Chateau Briand. I was very impressed ith the place, I looked at a lot of places, one place had no heat on, they were 'trying to cut cost' another place we went to smelled like dirty clothes and they asked for the videotape back as well as I saw roaches there, one place bought all of there food at BJ's I saw the card and list on the caterers desk!!!! Another place kept putting on emphaisis on people of different religions, they were very prejudice. I liked Chateau Briand becuase it was elegant and they were flexible as well as the price was excellent. Hope the computer goes back up at work! Hope to hear from you soon. P.S. when u tell people you're wedding date do u find yourself explaining why 2004... because I cannot stand these nosey people anymore!!!

I have to explain which quite frankly is NONE of their business. Espcially when I don't know many people on a personal level at work for me to be telling them my financial situation. Guess What-I have the Saturnia too! I have it for my cocktail hour then the Leonardo Room for the reception. Who is your BM? Mine is Rob. Have fun planning the rest. I love this place too. But I never heard of what you saw at other locations, that must have been scary... I will e-mail you in a bit.

Wow, what a coincidence... the same place and a few weeks apart. Did you ask them if u can try the food? They told us that we just should call and let them know we are coming in, and dinner is on them. I went with my future MIL and we did not tell them and the food was very good. My FH and I are going back in June when he finishes work . He is a teacher in NYC, so we can celebrate the end of the school year. The chocolate moose was excellent. I think I can eat a whole bowlful instead of real food at my own wedding! (Like I am going to actually eat?!) We are going to the showcase at Fox Hollow on 4-29 because my FH has to take a class the day they have it at Chateau Briand. I am so sick of explaining myself also, and it really is not that far off 2004- I just tell people that they were booked up for 2003 on the day that we wanted it. Our BM is Gerry I think I have to check my paperwork. Are you getting married there?

I am getting married at my parish. I am going to the seminar on 4/30 at the Chateau Briand. They said the same thing to me too on the food tasting. Rob mentioned calling him and going to the restaurant they have. I was trying to figure out where that is but the place is too big and confusing to figure out for me. That's funny you mentioned the mousse that is all my sister kept talking about when I showed her the menu! I don't even care on people's thoughts and opinions. My mom is already bothering me but her opinion counts more than people that aren't even invited! 2004 is not that far off. If you think about it, once Memorial Day comes around, the Summer zooms by and then we are at Labor Day. You and me will have 18 mos. left! yippeee...

The restaurant is at the front of the catering hall. When you walk in and see the hospitality bar it is behind the doors. It almost looks like a wall, but there is a restaurant in there. When we went with my future MIL we took our camera hoping to get some nice photos. We did not get them developed yet, hopefully they came out well. 2004 does not seem too far away either , I thought the same thing, the summer seems to go by so fast. When are you going to start to book vendors???? (video, etc.)

Susanlynn-Chateau Briand

We are meeting with my priest on Saturday. Before that I am going to the Wedding Center in Baldwin. I want to take a look at the wedding centers first and see what they offer. After that I want to visit individudal vendors and see what is more cost effective but good for us. The only thing I am most concerned with is the photographer. We want to make sure we get along with the person since they will be with us the entire day. I am not going to start dress hunting till after the Summer. That is it so far. We have to plan for our e-party this Summer so we will have to register sometime soon. How about you?

Susanlynn-Chateau Briand

We registered 2 weeks ago at Fortunoff`s.It only took us 2 days to do so, my FH and I get along very well, so there were no arguments! We did see a lot of couples arguing over silly things. We went on a Friday evening so it was not too crowded, and finished on Saturday late afternoon. We are not having an engagement party, we sent out announcements instead. They were sent out a week ago. We are very concerned about the photographers. Cassanova keeps calling me, my friend from college did not like them. But everyone has there own opinion. My other friend from college is going to be giving me some names, I will pass on to you when she gives to me, if u want.My dad passed away last August, so we r going to book the rest after August 2002
