What do I do? Not happy with professional pics.

Hi all,

Well, I have finally admitted to myself that I am not thrilled with my professional pictures. This was my one big fear, and it has come true. Although Duet captured every moment, there aren't ANY really amazing pictures. I am really sad about this, and I never thought this would happen using Duet. Is there anything I can do? Should I talk to them about it? Maybe there are pictures in the negatives that I would like more that they didn't include in our proofs??

I'm really sorry to hear that. I think you should contact Duet and inform they you arent happy with your proofs and see what they can do for you. You should be happy with a service you paid for and they should try everything in their power to make you happy.

I definitely recommend you talking to them and say exactly how you feel. Tell them to show you all the negatives, print out all the pictures for you, or ask for additional albums. They have to recompensate you in some way. I'm so sorry to hear that!!

I think this happens a lot with Duet bc they are soooooo hyped up on these boards that everyone expects to have 700 magazine ad photos when they get their proofs.

The thing you need to remember is that brides post maybe what.. 20 -30favorites on here. the unposted shots are probably good too but not as great as the favorites....YKWIM.

everyone cant expect every single pic to be out of this world.

What do you specifically not like with the proofs?

Unless Duet conducted themselves unprofessionally or didn't adhere to your 'must take' list or something horrible like not using proper lighting or cutting off people's heads in shots, I dont know what you can do. Photography is an art form and some people will love what others don't. I am not sure if that makes a photographer liable though. Sorry

I so agree with this statement. If you went to compare everything with other brides on this site you would just make urself miserable.

Hi - yes, I think Leslie is right....I will express my dissapointment, but....there is probably not much they can do at this point. There are just a lot of photos where some of the photographers are in the background, or DH's tux isn't laying right (I depend on the photographers to make sure nothing is 'out of place') - there really is not ONE photo that I am completely in love with.....there is something slightly 'off' about the 20 or so that I like. Honestly, some of the pics I got from guests that are from digital cameras are better.

Oh, well. I think what's important is for me to share on these boards that Duet isn't always 'foolproof'. I had very high expectations with them....even my Mom went through the 800+ pics online and wasn't thrilled, and parents love any pictures!

I am so sorry that you feel that way....remember that people are posting their best pics on here...perhaps cropping them on their own or photoshopping them.....

oh no...sorry to hear about it...i can honestly say....that not liking my photos will be my greatest fear....i have heard nothing but good things about Duet and sorry to say that you dont like it...definitely voice your opinion to them and see if you can see all the negatives.....if certain things are in the pics...cant you just have them crop it to take it out of the pic...im sure there are somethings that they can do

basically you cant re-do the day ....although it would be nice....talk to them and see what they say...let us know

i'm so sorry-- that's my biggest fear!! are you going to post some of the proofs??

i would talk to them and see what they say or if they can offer you anything. i just met with them yesterday and we decided not to book b/c we felt there was a lack of communication b/c the person we met with did not speak much english. also, a huge deal breaker for me was the fact that they would NOT allow under any circumstances us to meet our actual photog (i asked for jay) before the day of our event. how do i know that it is even him that day if i don't meet him? will i click with him? hi, nice to meet you on my wedding day was not what i had in mind and it was a major MAJOR turn off. they told me they do far too many weddings to arrange meetings w/ the photog before the event-- as a customer who wants to feel 'special', to hear that was very disappointing.

i wish you luck and i'm sorry again. maybe down the line you would consider going to another photog and having shots re-taken-- the other photogs i met with told me that happens a lot with people who are unhappy with their pics.

I am so sorry...but can I remind you that we are all our worst critics and sometimes we are so hard on ourselves when we truly have great photos. Can I suggest something? Why not post some in a community album? I would tell you, I swear it, if I thought they were less than par because of Duet.

I'm sorry you're upset...I missed some 'key' shots, too, and if you posted this on newlyweds you'd find some comfort! :)

You should post some of your proofs. Often, we are our own worst critics. Maybe your expectations were somewhere else - what you got might not have been what you were expecting, but that doesn't mean your pictures aren't beautiful. It almost sounds like you had a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Perhaps if you express your disappointment as to specific things in each picture that you do not like, they may be able to digitally alter it. I've seen some incredible things done to digital pictures---they can literally take the head off a person in one picture and attach it to the body on another picture. If there are slight imperfections (eyes closed, people in the background) they may be able to fix that for you. If you were disappointed with the artistic/creative component of the pictures, that's a whole other problem that probably can't be fixed.

I felt the same way at first. I kept comparing mine to everyone else's. Then I realized that would only drive me crazy. Also keep in mind that they're rough proofs. They can touch up your pictures, remove things from the background, etc.

I agree, your photos came out beautiful. It seems like you were interested in a different style of pictures then the ones that you got though. I'm sorry that you were disappointed and I would definitely mention it to Duet.
