what do I do with the time in between???

My church ceremony is at 3pm in massapequa park and my hall's CH starts at 6.The way I figure is that even if it starts on time it will be over at 345 or 4. Then we are going to take pics, what do I do with our guests until 6. The hall is in Massapequa??? My BM said that he can poss start our CH a little early like 530 .AAAAGGGGHHHHHH this is getting stressfull,

Your guests will figure it out. It's quite normal for a time gap and unless there's someone you could ask to host a close by stop over (coffee, softdrinks, etc) there's not much you can do about it.

You can have your guests go to the CH earlier? It might take them time from the ceremony to the Hall. The hall won't kick them out. If the parents want to have something back at their house before the CH that's an idea. Good luck. Don't stress, it's a happy time!!!

I was stressed about that exact thing at first. Think of it this way, you leave the church and go to the hall. Take pictures for a while then go into the CH. People will mill around the church for a bit and then go to the hall. Seriously, it sounds mean but dont worry about everyone... you have enough to deal with. They are all adults and can find something to occupy thier time.

Can a local friend or relative host an open house?

I am having precocktail hour at 5:30. I know that it is going to take time for us to get from Brooklyn to the ME and while we are taking pictures, my guests will be served coffe, cookies, etc.

We were trying to accomodate the guests and keep them close. We live in Brooklyn so there is no one close by to host anything. I agree when there was a gap we did what we had to do. Sometimes we went to just the reception or we would stop by McD's for a quick snack before the CH.

What about looking around the area for comfortable/inexpensive places for your guests to go while they wait? You could put a slip of paper in the programs or do word of mouth at the church.

I totally agree... your guests have been to weddings with gaps before I am sure. Don't worry about this.

Hey Charmaine, You church isn't far from the Sunrise mall- mayeb peopel will shop for a bit?

Seriously, my mom said the same thing about my church, it's by the Broadway mall in Hicksville.

And as hard as you try, it will start a few minutes late, and people will mingle outside for a while, so if they can start the CH at 5 30, you should be fine. People wouldn't get there till about 5:15 anyway.

I have a HUGE GAP my ceremony is at 1 and my cocktail hour doesn't start until 7! my mother is having a brunch/lunch at our house for anyone who'd like to come after the ceremony. Then our reception hall is about 45 minutes away from were I live-still a gap, but I'm sure they'll find something to do!

I guess so, now my uncle is telling me that I will only have our limos for 3 hours so I need to find a hotel near the church to get dressed at and then make diff arrangement with my hairdresser and makeup people to those things done. All of a sudden my head hurts.

Can you request over time in advance?? We knew we would need more then the standard 3 hours when we booked so we told them up front. Why change all that other stuff? (my head would hurt with that one also)

Re: what do I do with the time in between???

The thing is that my uncle runs the comp with his friend. It is a gift to me, whatever time I want it,it would not be a prob but they need to book around me.I will have a limo bus that my uncle will be driving that will be there to get us around. So what I am doing is having them pick me up like 245 or 3 so that i will have it until 545 closer to 6, just in time for the CH at the hall.

also if you take some pictures at the hall you won't need the car as long - are there some pictues you can take there instead

My church is also at 3 and cocktail is at 6:30, my mom is having a coffee, snack type of thing after the church while we go take pictures after the ceremony. Maybe you can do something like that.

I've been to numerous weddings over the past three years and this has always been the case. I figured out what to do. Either hit a restaurant, grab a couple others and hit a bar for a drink, etc. It's only two hours - people from LIsland should be able to figure it out, people from out of town can also go back to their hotel or whatever. Don't worry about it. We started doing the same thing and freaking out over the 2 hour gap for our guests - but just have to go with the flow.
