My RB was just about to turn 2 at our wedding. We bought him a bracelet with his name engraved on it. We made sure to pick one that has adjustable links so he can wear it if he wants when he is older. It looks great on him now and will also be masculine enough for future use
What about a gift card to a toy store or something like that, any kind of jewlery would probably be wasted on him right now, or maybe a watch that you can have engraved for when he gets older.
We got ours a ring-bearer teddy bear and a small basketball, because he loves sports. Ours was almost 3.
I would get his parents a gift certificalte to Toys R Us or Babies R Us.

I think savings bonds are always a good bet... he will have it later in life and know it is from you and why... if he is anything like my neices and nephews, he doesn't NEED another toy!
