so i got this message on my myspace account from one of my 'friends'.....i was in her wedding 3 years ago, but even before her wedding happened we had started drifting apart, and after she got married and had her 1st and now 2nd child, i could say we have seen each other ONCE, and it was at her baby shower. so this is what the message says.
HI mo... Whats up... I guess Im writing you this because its April 7th and you told me that your wedding is in May.. So, I'm sure you sent out the Invites... And I see that you havent invited me.. OHh well, I guess we arent as close as I thought... =0/ I dont know what else to say...
i feel kinda bad that i didnt invite her, but at the same time, she has to know that we are not nearly as close as we once were. i know some of you have dealt with this situation also. how did you deal with it...

*UPDATE* so apparently she did/does know about liw and wrote me a message to my myspace saying 'dont bother' with a link to this chat. there goes that friendship

im in the same situation.
2 years ago i was a BM in my then friend's wedding. throughout the whole process i didnt feel like we were as close as when she asked me, but i did it anyway. since then ive talked to her once, at a mutual friend's bbq where she found out im engaged.
since then i havent talked to her and im not inviting her.
i dont think you should have to invite someone just because you were in their wedding. it's different if you kept in touch, and just invited her, not put her in the BP. but since you're like me, i dont feel obligated.

honestly where is the friendship if she hasnt even stayed in touch since her wedding? it takes 2! Sadly ppl grow apart. It sux but it does happen!!

ummmm....I think that if you haven't had much of a relationship with her....its silly to invite her just for political reasons. I was in several weddings 5-10 years ago.....and I did not invite those very brides to my wedding. I just don't feel close to them anymore. The reality is that in different stages of your life, you'll feel close to certain people that you'll naturally draw apart from. If you have 1 or 2 or luckily 3 friends that stay with you through all the decades of your life....you're really lucky. But you'll probably be like the majority, and have about 40 friends over the course of your life.....only 2 or 3 of whom will be there forever. THis friend was just one of the other 37. Not a negative thing....just the way it is.

Don't feel bad or sad...the friendship was hanging by the thin string of myspace.com, which unfortunately is the middleman in friendships that should have faded away a long time ago...you didn't feel close enough to invite her in the first place so don't sweat it too much...

honestly though you are allowed to invite who you want to your wedding... you may ruffle some feathers and hurt some feelings, but i'm sure there was a reason you chose not to invite her... you were acknowledging the truth, that you are not so close anymore, and there is nothing wrong with that, its calling a spade a spade... i know you will guilty though regardless and i sympathize
