I agree with cutting the guest list, i wish ours was smaller. But even after we cut out a bunch of people, we invited about 330. Everybody always says just invite closest friends and family and make it easy, which is easy for some to say and dont realize that everyone has different situations. My dh's family alone were about 100 people and thats not even an exaggeration lol and thats close family lol. Just dh's side with his family, friends and co-workers was reach close to 200 but if people can do it, the guestlist makes a HUGE difference.

Also i think paying things with cash is the best way. This way you dont owe anything after the wedding. Not only that but when you pay by cc you are paying interest on all these things. So just about every vendor or item you pay for, you are going to end up paying even more after the interest.

Yeah, luckily for me my FH and I come from relatively small families so we're inviting just over a 100ppl. My brother's long time girlfriend though comes from a HUGE Irish family and has 56 first cousins on ONE SIDE - LITERALLY! My FH always teases her that they're going to have to rent Giants Stadium for their wedding. And everyone in their family goes to everyone's weddings. Some ppl really can't help their guest count.

This is why we are having asmall wedding. We could have easily had 300+ people at our wedding but FH and I decided that its not worth going into debt for. So our guest list is down to 75, only very close family and close friends and our BP is just MOH, BM,FG,RB.

I kind of want to cut favors, but I don't want people to think I'm 'cheap' or something... but I HATE favors... they never seem useful.

We decided to do the chocolate menus for favors. I feel like they're functional and yummy. Just an idea.

I agree with that article completely. FH has told me plenty of times how proud he is of me for putting this whole thing together without stepping out of our budget at all. Obviously, it's not the wedding I had dreamed of when I was 15 years old and just ASSUMED I'd have an endless pile of money to work with but it's still incredible!!

I cut down the list a LOT so that it was only family and my closest of closest friends. That alone helped us a lot!
