what do u think?????

what do u think?????

Im not sure if I want to get married in my church or not---It is a lutheran church with a very small congregation,,,and it looks the same as it did when my parents got married there 25 years ago! It is very out dated , has only 20 pews, no a/c (august wedding) and even has roof problems so there are a few stains on the cieling tiles. When walking down the aisle,,,,Ill be coming in the side door and making a sharp right to finally walk to the altar. It s hard for me to decide because my grandfather worked there for about 25 years and my grandmother is very close wto the pastor and his wife! I don't want to sound shallow, because I'm really not hard to please at all,,but I can't stop thinking about what my pictures will turn out like!!!! My fiance is catholic,,, and I can't get married in a catholic church with out changing my religion. I have a feeling that my grandmother will be really upset if I get married in a different church! I want to do the right thing,,,, but I can't decide!!!! AAAHHHHH Please help!!! What would you do in this situation???

How does FH feel? What would he like to do? You could also consider having ur ceremony at the hall to avoid another religion. Or I know they have 'chapels' that you can get married at that are like just for weddings. Or you can find a church that is of another religion to just have the ceremony in. I attend a methodist church and i know they will allow you to get married in the church. There is a fee but I dont think its much. We dont have to pay it all bc we are members. I think all methodist churches are like this.

1st you so can get married in a Catholic church without converting. They make you tell them you will raise your children Catholic but they obviously can't hols you to it.

2nd if the way your chuch looks is really an issue for you then your family should understand.

My cocktail hour starts at 8:30. When I had called to ask about having the ceremony there,,,I was told that it will have to start at 8!!!! My FH would like to have it in the same place because we live pretty far from there, as do most of our guests, so maybe i could call and work on the time,,It would be perfect if I could have it at 6!!! I'll have to try that!!

This is not true. My FH's sister got married in a catholic church and her husband is not catholic.

I was going to suggest this, or the reception venue

I was going to mention both of these.

Also allow me to add, if you really have issues with the way the church looks, don't do it. If you don't like the looks or have issues, its about you, don't worry about upsetting others.

On the other hand, I know if where my parents got married was nearby, or was in a church that my grandparents and parents were a part of, and there is history there, I would be honored to have my ceremony there for sheer historical purposes, no matter what it looked like. Thats just me though....and you can always dress a place up with loads of flowers.....
