what do u think... Im a little peeeeved

The lady that set Mike and I up was just online and I was talking to her. I told her that we picked our place and the date. Because she didnt come to our e-party because of some surprise party. mind you Her husband has known mike since he was 5 and she has known me since before i was even born. thats how we got hooked up. When I tell her the date she says well as long as thats not a dance recital day. I was a little ticked. Mike cant stand them any more because they like never EVER call or want to be bothered and even said he doesnt think they shold be invited to the wedding I just laughed and said they have to be invited they have known one of us forever. plus they set us up. I was even planning on doing something really nice for them either at the reception or ceremony. Am I just being an idiot or would anyone else be a little upset?

I would invite them, but be prepared that they might be a little self involved and not come. I probably would not set something special up for them.

that would totally annoy me. She can't miss one dance recital for your wedding? some friend!

I would invite them, but skip the special honor part.

i would definitely be upset. if FH and I were in the same situation i'm sure he'd say that he wouldn't want to invite them either. but i think you should .. but like others said, no special honor for 'em.

I would be mad also. I agree with the other girls, invite them, but don't do anything special for them.

Is the 'dance recital' something that their child is performing in? When I was young I took dance lessons, and once a year we got to perform at the big theater at CW Post. I would have been crushed if my parents didn't come to see me. Is that what this is, or is she going to see a professional show?

I agree - Invite them, but don't do anything special....doesn't seem like they deserve it...(other than for the fact that they set you up!)

If it's their child's dance recital, I could understand to an extent...I went to dancing school for 100 years and you pay all this money on costumes and stuff and you take the stupid lessons week after week after week...there's a lot involved. However, I'd probably be a little annoyed anyway...invite them but I wouldn't do anything special for them.

I would be mad, why put conditions on their attendence now when the wedding is next year? I can certainly understand them going to their children's recital though - family first. But I would still invite them and skip the honoring part. Is your wedding in the evening?? If so, the recital shouldn't really be a problem.

I would invite them and if they don't come because of some lame excuse, then write them off!

I agree, if the recital involves one of their own children, it is somewhat understandable - but I am not entire;y convinced. Invite them, but do not be surprised if they are no-shows.

See I totally understand. Children come first and thy are the most important thing in your life. I also took dance lessons for at lest 10 years. We are almost like family though. I feel like Iam being very selfish and only thinking of my self. I am actually mad at my self over it. I remeber my dad being bored and never wanting to g to my dance recitals LOL really didnt bother me. And they would be the only ones invited to it. So grandma could take her to the recital. im so upset.

i would be peeved too. Sounds like they are too self absorbed. Invite them and leave it at that. If they can't be joyous and excited about your special day screw them. And don't let them bring you down. This is your time and special event. Enjoy!!

i think its extremely insulting... they mean so much to you and ur FH, and they act like your union means nothing. i would invite them out of obligation but i wouldnt do anything special for them
