I am going to call my FMIL by her first name. My FH's father passed away. My mother is still alive and I do not feel comfortable calling my FMIL mom. She hasn't really talked about it with me or my FH. But for me it is uncomfortable. However, on my b-day card last year she signed it your 2nd mom. I didn't know how to react and also on gifts that she gives both of us, she signs it mom. I don't want her to get offended, but I'm all out of ideas.

Wanna hear something funny? I have never called them anything in three years!! Its pathetic actually. If I want to ask them a question I wait for them to look at me, or I go over and just start talking. Or if I'm talking to his mom about his dad I'll say 'Your hubby' I dunno what will happen after we are married!

I feel weird calling my future inlaws mom and dad since NO ONE can compare to my parents. So I will probably con't to call them Mr. and Mrs. (plus I don't really care for them that much!)

I call them by their first name, but I will refer to FFIL as Pop if I am talking to FI about him.

I am the same way
I always wait for them to look at me, and if I am talking to the other person I say your husband, your wife, or Kevin's mom/dad. The most familar I have gotten with the family is I will say Grandma Kruger or Grandma and Grandpa Woolsey when talking about them.

pains in the a$$es

no, actually they want me to call them mom and dad, which is really fine with me. I've had to call them Mr. and Mrs. for so long now, and it always felt so impersonal, that I'm looking forward to something more personal. (I've only known them for 7+ years!!!)

that is what i want to call mine.

Same Here! I don't call them anything. It's usually 'Hi, how are you ?' I can't imagine I will EVER call them Mom or Dad and I feel weird calling them by their first names.

As of right now we call each other's parents Mr. & Mrs. ___. After we are married, I have no clue. I could never imagine calling them Mom and Dad, and I don;t think my parents would like that anyway. Hopefully we will have children soon so they will become Nanny and Grandpa.

I call them all by their first names. I did the 'Mr.' and 'Mrs.' thing for awhile but one day I slipped and called FFIL by his first name. He didn't give me a 'look' or anything, so I figured it was okay

by their first name - I have known them since I was 5. Even then I was told to call them by their first names.

I avoid calling them anything most of the time. Not really sure what to call them...

I call them Mom and Dad. It took a while to get used to saying it though.

Neither can I. I hardly see them anyway. So I'll keep on calling them by their first names. No mom / dad. Too weird.

i call them by their first names, which is how they introduced themselves to me. i'm not averse to eventually calling them mom and dad, but it probably won't happen because we live so far from each other...
