On LI/NYC that is! Just curious, because it can be so ridiculous!
Personally, IMO: Low= < 20K Med = approx 30-50K High= 80K and up
Everything in between is grey area.

I don't know how they do it either.....we both have large families so it is impossible for us. I am happy that we were able to keep it around 30K!

Re: What do you consider....
Only in NY are wedding a big thing. My friend from the west coast had a beautiful outdoor ceremony in a nice hall with a buffet reception for over 100 people for under 10,000.00. Our west coast friends tease us all of the time 'we are going to a New York wedding' they overexcenuate NEW YORK. It's pretty funny. It has some reputation.

Re: What do you consider....
thats true! My gf got married in TX and her wedding was like a birthday party compared to weddings in NY... and my friend in RI told me that they dont have bridal showers there for brides because at the wedding they get those types of gifts (like blender, coffee machine) instead of money!

Re: What do you consider....
That sounds right for a New York wedding. It's insane how much more expensive weddings are here.

Re: What do you consider....
w/ out hm we had a 'low' budget wedding at 15k. I think its people your inviting vs time of year as well. Kinda hard to set a label on things. I realized we had an inexpensive wedding by far but you wouldn't be able to tell it because we were thrifty and our time of year let us not spend a ton on everything.

Re: What do you consider....
My wedding is in Ohio and we will have about 8,000 including rings (which were 1/4 of it). 20k here is considered HIGH...LOL but then again if we were in Boston still we would probably have 60k wrapped up in it.

We are on the low end, paying for almost all of it ourselves. Although I would love a high end wedding! Who wouldn't ? LOL
