What do you do????

What do you do????

I am sure some of you have or are having this issue:

My parents were divorced when i was 9 years old. My mother re-married when i was 12 years old. I have lived with my mother and step father up until now when i moved out with my fh. I see my step father all the time. I see my father every once in a while. My father refuses to walk down the aisle with my step father because my dad wants to be the one to give me away. However i wanted BOTH of them to walk me down. What do you do?

2nd dilemma I have. When you have a father and a step father what do you do with you father daughter dance. I am close to both of them but it seems more to my step father. Do you pick one song and split the song and switch between them midway? Or do you choose a song for each of them, so you have a full song for both your father and step father????????

I'm not in that situation, but I think if you're close to both, you should have a full song for each one.

I would do full song with each.
March alone, if they can't play nice, they don't get to play.

Re: What do you do????

I have been there in my first wedding. I wanted both my step dad and dad to walk me down the aisle. Like you, I was closer to my step dad. My dad was very offended and demanded that he be the one and only. I complied and offered my step dad to do a reading. He declined and was very upset with me over it. Years later, my sister got married and my dad was alright with my sister having both 'dads' walk her down the aisle. Of course I lost it and demanded that he not disrespect me like that. He finally agreed, although it cause many riffs. Do you have any sisters that are getting married? Married? I would ask your dad how he would feel if it were the other siblings wedding and if he would expect the same from them. Truly, he should do it, he is your father, but part of me believes he needs to earn that privilage. It is a tough situation and unfortunately there is no right position. Ask your step dad if he would consider doing a reading-maybe or poem. IMO, I think you should give each one a dance. Ultimately, you are going to need to follow your heart but you will have to hurt someone along the way.

1. What if your Step father walked you half way down the aisle and then your dad walked you the other half... That way they dont have to walk down together.

2. I would have a song for each of them.

Now would you do the two songs back to back or let FH dance with his mother and then do the 2nd song?
