Re: What do you do
I would tell them, when we were looking at rings I asked some of the girls at work (who I have known a long time and consider to be my friends) how much was theres so I could get an idea of what size my hands would good with I have very small hands. They let me try them on too. No one seemed to be put off by it. I thinks its all in the context of how it is asked...

Re: What do you do
I would tell them - I know I asked good friends of mine the size of their diamonds when we just started looking to get an idea of the size, cost, etc - but I didn't think it was a big deal.
Funny though, the other day I was on the elevator leaving my office building and another woman in the elevator goes 'Is that REAL??' - I was shocked. I was just like, umm, yes. I guess it was meant to be a compliment - but how weird.

Re: What do you do
Only one person has asked me this and I told her the truth. She didn't believe me, she said it looks like it's more carats than I told her. So I guess that's a compliment in a way.

I would tell them...as long as it wasn't asked in a snooty way

Re: What do you do
I would tell them. I dont think it's a bad question. I mean you can clearly see the diamond and estimate what it is. Some people just want to know to help them pick out one.

I tell them its none of their business....same response to the popular question of 'how much is your wedding costing'....none of their business - imo
I'm with you

Re: What do you do
I tell them. I'm very proud of my ring and I have no problem letting people know. If they have a problem with it, that's not my issue.

My close friends have asked, but no one else.
same here.. and i told them the truth.. i'm not sure if I'd be comfortable sharing with people I'm not so close with either.

Re: What do you do
If someone asks, I'll tell them, but unless it's a close friend, I think it's a pretty rude question IMO. I feel like it's equivalent to asking someone how much they make.
My first day back to work after the engagement, one of my superiors asked how many carats it was, and THEN asked to try it on. I had only had it for 72 hours! Luckily, she couldn't get her own ring off, so awkard situation avoided :)

If you're uncomfortable answering just say 'I have no idea'.

Re: What do you do
i just realized that nobody's asked. not even my dad! i know FH had a convo with female coworker about it last week and she didnt believe that he got the color diamond that he did. so he brought the GIA certificate to rub it in her face lol
