when people dont send in their RSVP and when you call them they say 'i dont know'. my instinct is to say then you cant come but FH is going to tell me I am mean. We already have like 5 ppl who RSVPd like this.

Re: what do you do
I would tell them ' I need to know by _____ ' and give them a couple of days to decide yes or no. If they can't decide by then, it's their loss!

ITA
or another option is to say 'well i'm going to put you down as a 'no' for now, but if that changes, please let me before ___'

I agree with considering them a no, and telling them that. Dont risk paying for their plate and costing yourself money.
And thats so rude of people.

Re: what do you do
we should have a rude people contest after all our weddings. prizes go to the most outrageous story and most overall rude wedding guests

Re: what do you do
ugh i totally hear you. i would tell them you are marking them down as a no since you need to give your RH an accurate count. I am having this problem too but w/ single guests waiting on bringing someone w/ them to the wedding.. i just told them i was putting them down as single since they couldn't guarantee they could bring someone w/ them. its better to be safe!
