I am inviting none and just telling those that i wanted to invite that it is only going to be a small affair with family only. So far everyone has understood and no problems.
I think I might do the same thing.

Re: what do you do about coworkers...
Is there any way that he can invite them without guest unless they are really a very good outside of work friend and of course if they are married/engaged? I feel that sometimes when it comes to guys, they arent as sensitive about being invited with a guest. Personally, fh has been at his job for 10 years+ so mainly his friends are from work anyway but the ones that hes just cool with and inviting, hes not inviting with a guest unless they are in a serious relationship or married.
Im only inviting my boss and her husband (or a guest)...I really dont like anyone else too much, lol and I dont really like my boss too much either but you know how it goes with these stupid courtesy invites.

Wow...that is hard. I just started a new job today, so I plan on invitint just my boss, if that. I'm not going to talk about the wedding with anyone there.
As for what you should do...IDK... that is a lot of people. Maybe have him restrict it to just immediate co-workers...? Thats a toughie.

grrr. thanks for all your answers! i guess i will get to work on the guest list and see if we need to add them lol
fh is soo reeettaaaaaarded.. i find out otday that hes been telling people 'oh its a small wedding, so im just goin gto have a party at the house for u guys'....
oh really? party? in our house? who is paying for it? cuz im soooooooooo done with house parties for his friends
his answer: na we'll just get beer and pasta and chicken...
yea buddy. thats it.
whte trash rullllllllleeeeeeeeeezzzz
ok vent over.
This is too funny! Leave it to a guy to think you can get away with inviting them to the house for chicken fingers :)
I think my sister went through the same thing with her husbands department...they had to invite everyone!
Thankfully FH works with a very small group of people...so he's only inviting a handful...and I likely wont invite anyone

I think this is a good idea... honestly, I feel that guests are the first to go on a list. We're keeping 'guests' that are spouses/fiancees/long term significant others, but that's really about it. We're having a big enough wedding and can't afford to have all of these people that we don't know. If he works with them, then they should all know each other, so maybe just invite 'and guest' to ones who are married/engaged/in long term relationships/or however else you want to cut it.
FH is just inviting the people he is close with at work + spouses/etc./etc. I work as a babysitter for a few different families so I'm inviting them all (but that's a different situation) + I work as a tutor for my school and am not inviting anyone from there (except for a friend that also works for the tutoring dept, but I knew her before I became a tutor) since it's not an office work situation-we're all on our own.

Re: what do you do about coworkers...
i invited only my 'Friends' from work.. those that I hang out w/ after work, we know eachothers spouses, children, have been to eachother houses.... I invited the single ones alone - and let them know I had to do that.. they were ok with it since they all knew eachother anyway.
FH is loved by EVERYONE at his job (he's been there 12 years) so he only invited his boss (his stepfather happens to be friends w/ him) & his 2 closest friends that he is also friends w/ outside of work....
A few people actually told him they were insulted they weren't invited...to me, that's just plain rude. People need to respect that there has to be a limit.. and first and foremost of course is family....

I think it is OK to invite someone without a guest if they don't have a spouse or long-term serious partner. If they do though, I think you have to invite them with a guest! How would you feel if FH was invited to a wedding with no guest? I know I'd be pissed and think it was rude lol

All the people we didn't invite with a guest were single. (not married & not in a relationship) Of course if they wouldn't know anyone at the wedding i would let them bring a guest. But everyone knew someone else, so it was fine..
all married people and people in relationships were invited with their partners, of course!

I invited those co-workers with whom I socialize outside of work, since a wedding is a non-work social event. The ONLY exception I made was my immediate boss (and his wife).
i am doing the same.

Re: what do you do about coworkers...
Yes, I entirely agree with the inviting people without the guest option, as that will be my own tactic. I have a TON of co-workers invited, but only about 20% of them are in any form of substantial relationship, so I am going to kindly explain to them that I just can't have every single person with a guest offered. It's just not in my room capacity.

I am having the same issue. I am the speech provider in a school and am very friendly with lots of the classroom teachers and staff. I'm only inviting my work 'besties' and think (hope!) the rest will understand!

Re: what do you do about coworkers...
My fiance and I used to work together. There are some people we would absolutely love to invite and definitely some that we don't want. What we are doing in order to buy us some time is we are not sending any save the date cards to his co workers. This way no one is asking one another if they got our save the date card and my fiance doesn't have to answer to anyone just yet.......
I'm not inviting any one from my work. I may not even be there by the time I get married.

Re: what do you do about coworkers...
To keep it fair, I only invited my boss and his wife. It was either that or 10 more people and I couldnt swing it and didnt want to hurt others feelings
DH invited alot of coworkers but they are all his friends and many out of state but still ended up coming. I'd say he invited 16 coworkers.

I am inviting the people I go out and drink with. If I dont hand out with them during happy hour (I am a teacher) then they aren't invited. :)

Re: what do you do about coworkers...
FH will be at a new job as of june so at that point it will really to be late to add any new coworkers to the list, that will be our excuse. I am only inviting two cowokers and their husbands and my bosses and their spouses so 8 people. I would cut work people before cutting anyone else though
