My wedding is from 11am to 4pm. What do you usually do after the reception ? I know we will probably be really tired, but I feel it's too early to call it a day. Any suggestion ?

Re: What do you do after your afternoon reception
It depends on your situation. One of my friends had a huge after-party at her dad's house with a DJ and food. Another one of my friends 'hosted' an after-party at Posh in the G.C. hotel but if you went you paid for everything. It was more of a meeting place to hang out.

Re: What do you do after your afternoon reception
Of course each person will be different but our reception was over at 6PM and we invited all of our guests to 'post reception celebration' at my mom's house....we were leaving for our HM at 6AM the next morning so it was really important to us to be able to spend as much time with as many people as possible since a lot of them traveled a pretty long way to celebrate with us....
We're the type that would have stayed out no matter what but this ended up being the perfect ending to our day

Ours is over at 5pm and I'm not sure what we're doing yet. I know people who drove a long way will want to go home, as it's a Sunday evening. I had a thought that we might rent a limo for the evening, pack a bunch of our friends into it, and drive into Manhattan and do silly stuff. Have dinner, take silly pictures in Times Square, with me still in my wedding dress, go to bars or whatever. Can't stay out too late, as we're going to the honeymoon in the morning, but it could be fun.

we are going to rent out a hospitality suite in the hotel where we are blocking rooms out, this way everyone can come and hang out there after the wedding. Either that, or if we get a hotel with a bar we will just have everyone come to the bar.

most of our bridal party is from out of town so they will be staying at the hotel. we booked our suite for the same hotel. we will probably continue the party at the hotel with the OOT guests and whoever wants to come back. the hotel is going to leave the bar open later for us.

We are having an after party at a place up the road. We aren't picking up the tab though. Cash bar.

Re: What do you do after your afternoon reception
2 of my friends had an afternoon reception and both of them had people over the house after (well one had people at her in-law's house and the other had everyone go back to a bar). The one that had people back at her house we had a BLAST and we hung out until at least midnight (so it was like she had 2 parties)! But when we went back to the bar for the other wedding, that was broken up within an hour or 2. HTH

Re: What do you do after your afternoon reception
We had a ceremony originally earlier in the day until we changed it to later. We were going to do a bar hop in town (everything is kinda walking distance) or go to FH's sister house for a big gathering.
Now everyone is going back to the hotel and having their own little party and then getting on a train to go to the st. pats parade the next day ioi Fh's family are big drinkers so I can see me sitting my wedding dress getting on a train after no sleep to do the parade IoI
Maybe you could find a bar or lounge type place that can accomodate a large party and have it as a general meeting place- but you dont have to be requiered to pay for everyone- but it will be there to keep the party going!

Re: What do you do after your afternoon reception
Maybe I am the only one but I plan on taking a nap. I have to be at the salon at 4:30am so I don't think I will be awake for an after party. My mom is having people over back at her house but fh and I are not going. We get a comped room at our RH and it seems silly to drive all the way to moms and then back to the hotel. SO i figure take a nap and then um 'enjoy' our first night as a married couple

We hired a bus to take some of our guests back to our home for an after party - or to sober up.

There is no bar there, but the Tin Alley Grill is right next door.

we had an afterparty at a hotel. About half of our 200 guests attended. it was a great decision!
