I've only been to a shower like 6 yrs ago, but I think if you have it out at a restaurant, you can just drink and eat. As far as who do you invite? I guess BM's other friends, moms, aunts, grandmas, cousins! Maybe you can do some kind of bridal bingo, or a raffle. Why are you worried though! You're not planning your own, are you?!

OHHHH, gotcha! We were all in the same boat last summer, we knew nothing and now we're on our 3rd wedding! Have you been on theknot.com? They have a section for BM's and moms, that might have shower info/ideas!
I responded on the other board.. I copied and pasted a game that I have seen at bridal showers and I would like to have at mine.. it's really cute .. It's a love letter and you have to fill in the blanks with household items..

Make sure that people that are invited to the shower are also invited to the wedding!!!!!!! My FH and I made a list and gave it to my MOH. This covers my friends, his friend's wives and both our family members. (I've been to showers that had 10 people invited and showers that have had 70 people.) It's up to you who you want to invite.
As for where to have it, you can have it at someone's house, a restaurant or even a church hall. If you have it in a restaurant, make sure you have a room to yourselves.
Typically, this is when you get a bunch of your registry items, so remember to register. The main job for your BMs is to make sure there is a flow during the shower and that everyone feels welcome. The internet is a good place to find out what games are typically played and what things BMs do for the shower. Make sure someone has a notebook!!! As you open each gift, a BM writes down who it's from, and what was given. This makes it so much easier when you write thank you notes.
At a bunch of showers, it is normal for the BMs to save each bow from the presents and make you a bouquet out of them. (Usually done on a paper plate or something like that. One BM does this as you unwrap each present) This is the bouquet you use at your rehearsal. Sometimes they even tie some of the ribbon to the 'bouquet' to make it into a bonnet for you to wear at the shower.
It also helps to have a BM in charge of grabbing the wrapping paper as you rip it off and they can throw it out. (Garbage bags are good for this, so have a bunch handy) If you take the time to do all this yourself, or your BMs don't decide what their jobs are before the shower, it takes a bunch of time away. And then guests get agitated.
I hope this helps you somewhat! Good luck!

Re: what do you do at a bridal shower?
Ok, well you usually invite all the women who are invited to your wedding unless you don't know them at all. As for games, there are a few. The one I know of is to get people talking with the other guests:
Take labels and put the names of famous women (usually actresses). Put one sticker on everyone's back and they have them go around asking the other guests questions to figure out who they are. The first few people who guess correctly get a little prize.
You can also do Bingo where everyone gets a bingo board and writes gifts that she thinks the bride is goona get. The first few who get BINGO win something (it is usually something small)
