i'm an administrative coordinator in the marketing call center for a hospital in nyc - it's fun but been way too long - I'll be looking for a new job soon enough in North Carolina at Wake Forest Medical Center - hopefully a managment position in an area that I haven't decided on yet!
i'm also a part time student who will have her MBA in 5.5 months!!!! I might also add that i function as a giant wall of support for FH as he goes thru heck with residency....

I work for a printing company(book covers) as an estimator.
I do estimating at the print shop i work at.. I FREAKING HATE IT!!!
I have to fight with the pressman, boss, customer and then myself in order to have a nice design but be able to print it on our 40 year old single with a t-hea press!
I am sure you guys have no probs with putting anything on your presses you probably have these sick *** monster Heidelbergs web presses. I hope i can make it a company like that one day or at least a advertising department so i don't worry about prepress and a crappy press.

Re: What do you do for a living?
I'm a Media Director for a marketing firm. Basically I manage and buy media (radio) all over the country. It's fun sometimes (the perks can be awesome). I'm looking for a few interns so if you - or someone you know is interested in Media Buying/Marketing, I can have something for you/them!

I am an event planner (but not weddings!!)
sounds exciting! what kind of events?
Mostly corporate events, cocktail parties, galas, fundraisers, etc. We do some social events. The first week I started here we did an event at MoMA for Bill Clinton and I got to go into the VIP room with just about every important political figure in the world, it was amazing!!!
I've only been doing it for a few months, I was going to go to law school and worked as a paralegal in a big law firm and then realized that I really wanted to do events so I quit my job - best decision ever!!!
I was actually gonna do an internship doing that, well it was a PR firm...I gave it up though...the problem was that one of their accounts was the palms in vegas and they did all those parties, so i would have to travel alot...Its great and if it was years ago i would've loved it...but for a couple of reasons I didn't take it...Can i ask you a question, how did you get into it, i mean did you have prior experience? I am thinking i might still want to do that but not for a company i would travel most of the time ya know...I still have my connection at the place but hmmm i don't know...I was actually thinking about this earlier
I didn't have any prior experience, I guess I got the job on blind luck. After I quit my job as a paralegal, I applied to tons and tons of event planning jobs, I wasn't getting any calls and was going to go back to school to get a masters in hospitality but then this one called me back. I was coming from a pretty well known, large law firm and the woman I am working for is pretty anal and thought the paralegal background would be good because it meant I was detail oriented. Anyway, the company I work for is a catering and event planning company, I work regular hours and don't travel, occasionally I have to go to events at night but never on the weekends. I had to take a giant paycut (like half of my salary) but I really love it and my ultimate goal would be to start my own company and work for myself doing it!
