I am having trouble figuring out what to do with checks received as gifts. We didn't make any sort of check box. What are our options for this? My mom is driving me crazy re: this. She doesn't want to collect checks because she wants to 'enjoy the day'. I don't want to call my in-laws and ask them to do this when the wedding is 2 days away. What should I do? After the person collects the checks, where are they kept?
thanks so much girls! I am desperate for your help.

Re: What do you do with your gift checks?
I didn't want a card box or bird cage, so I bout a card bag that will hold all of the cards. As guests give us their cards, FH and I will put them in the bag which my Dad will keep at his table. I bout a nice one at WrapWithUs in Syosset for about $16
eta: Most people will hand you the cards towards the end of the affair.

You can hand them all to your maitre de to hold for you untill the end of the night but the easiest thing to do would be to have a box/birdcage/bag or something for your cards. We bought one before Fantasyland in Patchogue went out of business but I think you can rent one from a florist. It was so nice to just have one place for people to drop off envelopes rather than have my husband & father walking around with envelopes falling out of their pockets.

I used a card box that I bought from AC Moore and decorated with ribbons and kept it next to my table.

Guests will just hand you the cards. I kept a bag in the bridal suite. Every time we got a stack of checks, my MOH would run up and put them in the bag. No problems.

At the wedding I was at last week, no box or cage, people would leave cards on the sweetheart table and the bridal attendant would whisk them off and bring them to the secured bridal suite. i thought that was a nice way to handle it!
