OK... I really want to get FH an engagement ring.... I know it sounds a little silly but I really think he would like it. He does not have any nice jewelry except the stuff I buy him from Tiffany and his watches.
Anyway.... I have been eyeing this ring for a while. I stopped to see it while I was in Bloomingdales yesterday with my Mom and she LOVED it and thought my FH would love it as well.
So here is my question. The ring is a David Yurman (so you know I'm paying for the name!) it cost $1,200.00 plus tax! And its sterling silver NOT white gold.
My Mom had an idea yesterday to have our jeweler make the same ring for half the price in white gold.
Do you think its bad if I copy the ring? I'm not sure if half the appeal to FH will be because its a David Yurman.... hes into funky pieces. I don't want him to look at it and be like... oh this is such a guido ring.... know what I mean???
for that price I would def see if the jeweler can copy it in white gold, that seems expensive for silver....JMO

My FH is not into jewlery so i got him a beautiful engraved humidor with engraved cutter, lighter & REAL cubans! It cost alot but it was worth it. He loved it.

Oh also FH wants to buy all his GM's engraved cigar cases with good cigars & lighters as well as their gifts. I thoughtit was a great idea! Maybe his dad can go back & get the cubans again! lol lol lol

Personally, as much as I like DY stuff, I think it's stupid to pay a ton of money for it when you can get a better quality copy made! I think this way because my Dad was in the business and when he told me how much this stuff costs to make, it made me think twice. Good luck!

Absolutely positively head to Canal St., 47th St., a good NYC jeweler, with the pic, and have it done . . . . My Mom has designed jewelry and brought drawings and had the pieces come out perfect. The original price is not appropriate for silver, at all.
Then, where the insignia is on the side, you could do your initial on one side and his on the other, or the last name initial, or whatever you want!!
