I'm hoping you could all give me some advice on what i'm thinking for a wedding date. Even though we have time, i've been talking about this with my mom and my fh.
We would ideally like to get married over my spring break from work (i'm a teacher). And that would be March 27. My mother thinks it might be too cold though. It's not like I care all that much about cold weather (I prefer it over hot) or any weather that much. But she's insisting that it could be too cold and flowers won't be in bloom yet. It's also the day before Palm Sunday so I don't know if the church will allow it. And we are sure we want to get married in the church. Another good thing about the date is we could take our honeymoon right after the wedding since I have almost 2 weeks off from work.
If not the date my mother suggested is Memorial Day weekend (but we would have to wait to take a honeymoon) or in the end of June/beginning of July once work ends for me. But my fh hates the summer (he's a mountain boy from NH lol). So my mind is doing circles right now and I was wondering what all of you thought of this.
Also if anyone has any info on Lombardi's on the Sound, Old Field Club, or Flowerfield they could share that would be great!
Sorry if this was so long! Thanks!

Re: What do you girls think?
I think if you and your FH prefer the colder weather then look into the March date... its your wedding! Also, i dont think there should be any problem having a wedding the day before palm sunday. I think the only thing is that during lent, they don't put flowers on the alter vs. other times of the year...
Another plus with march is that you will save lots of money compared to a summer wedding. (off season vs peak season).
I don't know much about those halls you mentioned, but a few girls on here have booked Flowerfield so maybe they can help you out w/ that!

My Bday is 3/27 and it is never to cold!!! It always seems like my bday is always the first nice day of the year - LOL!! If that is the day you want than go with it. It is not the middle of winter and you will get great prices for March - that is when I am getting married. Also I believe Palm Sunday is the next day so you will get the best prices out of the whole month!!!

I dont thikn March is too cold. I also think the church wouldnt have a problem marrying the day before Palm Sunday, Why dont you give them a call to check? You should do what makes you and fh happy so dont take too many opinions, its your days

Re: What do you girls think?
depending on your florist (i know burtons tends to only do whats in season that month, thats how they keep their cost down) they can get anything. they arent getting their flowers from here...they are being grown somewhere else so if its in bloom there then you're fine.
i'm booked at flowerfield for february (if you do january or february they give you a really great discounted promotion with lots of extras) i might have pricing for march though, let me know if you want it.

Re: What do you girls think?
Lombardi's on the Sound quoted me 100pp (including other charges) for a jan-march wedding for any night...and for a sunday in the other months was 130 (also including other charges for a sunday, and about 160 for a saturday

Re: What do you girls think?
Thanks for all your advice everyone. We pretty much have it narrowed down to March 27 and May 29 (Memorial day weekend). Our decision will pretty much be made on what's available, the price quotes, and what the church can do for us if we have it in March.
Thanks also for the Lombardi's quotes. I'm going to their showcase this Thursday. I hope I like what I see. I've heard mixed reviews.
And CloudNine- Can you fm me with any of those price quotes for Flowerfield that you have? And any other helpful info.
Thanks so much everyone. I'll keep you posted on what I decide to do!

Re: What do you girls think?
I have been to lombardi's on the sound and Old Feild club. We are getting married in July but the price is much lower for March. Old Feild Club was expensive and dosen't offer very much for it. I saw it 1st and of course fell in love with the place, it is beautiful. After taking the menu with me to Lombardi's I felt stupid for ever liking it. Lomabardi's was the same price (maybe even cheaper) and offered 9847256x more food and better food. The view at Lombardi's on the sound is a show-stopper, but I though the room itself was tacky so thats why its on our maybe list. Old feild club is beautiful but the down sides are mostly the small food selection for the high price, the dance floor is small and at the end of the room, not in the center.
Do your wedding in March like you want. I think the flowers will be just fine. If you get married at Lombardis or OFC flowers don't really matter, it's the water/ beach that makes it beautiful.

Re: What do you girls think?
sorry but i can't offer any pricing help, since i did not look at any of those places. but i do know that memorial day weekend is more money since it is a holiday weekend. plus may is always more expensive since it is prime wedding time. i want to get married in March myself, since that is when our dating anniversary is but FH wants a new date. you should check the weather almanac & see what the temperature around that date has been in the last couple of years. in 2006 my cousin got married the second weekend of june & we were all looking for jackets we were so cold.

Re: What do you girls think?
i think that you should do the date that you guys want. i dont see why the church would not allow you to get married a day before palm sunday, but find out. Dont let other people influence you to do different things. if you like that one date, then do it
good luck!

Re: What do you girls think?
Get price quotes for all different dates. We went back and forth between MANY dates. Orginally, we wanted 10/10/10. Then we changed that to Late Oct/Early Fall. We considered March and June. Prices can VARY soo much based on time of year. Plus, weather can be a big factor. We randomly ended up with July! I'm really happy with the decision because the price was FANTASTIC and since I'm a teacher we can go on our HM right away. So Maybe July would work for you too!
As far as March/Palm Sunday goes: we considered that date but some of my family thought the church doesnt marry couples during lent? I never heard of that before- but maybe ask just in case!!
Overall, weigh out your options. The weather should not be the biggest factor though. It could pour in any month...it could be sunny and beautiful in any month!
Good luck!

Re: What do you girls think?
So I have another update. I called the church this morning which I want to get married at and they do not do weddings anytime during Lent. So the March date I was looking at is out of the question. FH and I agreed that the next best date for us would be in May over Memorial Day weekend. And my mother seems to agree also lol. So that's going to be our date for now. I have a meeting at the church tomorrow and i'm gonna start visiting reception halls so i'll go from there. Thanks for all your advice girls. And for the price quotes too!
