My mom had suggested that the day of the wedding I leave from my sisters house. The church where we are getting married at is 4 blocks away from her house and her house is BEAUTIFUL compared to mine. Im so confused because I would love to get beautiful pictures in her house as oppose to my house which isnt so great looking. But I feel like its my house and I live here. Im so confused! I know I have more time to think about it but I want some opinions.

is there any way to 'spruce' up your house a lil bit? enough to take pics in? if you're gonna look back and say, yeah... wasnt even my house and feel bad about it... then of course dont do it even if you sister's house is gorgeous!

based on convenience it sounds like a great idea... but i totally understand the 'but its not my house' idea.
how far away is your house from the church? is it really that big of a difference?
i dunno, i myself am torn on this choice.

I would say get ready wherever you would feel the most comfortable. The way I feel is there's no place like home, and I hate getting ready anywhere else.
But if you could deal with getting ready in her place, and you want the pics taken there, then go for it. Whatever you feel more comfortable with.

FH is getting ready at his sisters house bc it's closer to the church and to my house too -- it just makes it easier for the photographer and limo people. Also, his apartment is small compared to his sisters so he thought it would be better to get ready at her house.
It's totally up to you, if you have a sentimental attachment to your home and want pictures of you there, then try to spruce it up a bit and take pics there -- even if you arent near the church you can be a little late to the wedding....it won't start without you hehe
I'm sure whichever location you decide will work out great.

my apt is not the most asthetically pleasing place in the world. Im trying little by little to make it nice and cozy.
I want to take pics from my place because it will remind me of where we were when we were getting married and the memories we shared in it before the big day....does that make any sense? lol

a fresh coat of paint can do wonders! my mom told me she was gonna get me a maid for the week before the wedding so the place looked in tip top shape

i personally want my pix at home - its not feasible because i live far from RH - but i would just put some new paint up, maybe get the rugs done and do a little DIY interior decorating - might make your decision so much easier

Wherever you feel most comfortable. I am sleeping in our apartment the night before because I know I want to be there. But for pictures I want my mom's house I grew up in.
If you do it at your sister's at least you don't have to clean!

I think that if you thing you would have any regrets about not doing it at your house, then I would say just stick with your house and I'm sure you can get it ready for the day of the wedding to look good for a few pictures. If you're not emotionally connected to the idea or you think you would be more happy w/ pics at your sisters because it is a 'nicer' house then do it there.
In the end it's whatever YOU are most comfortable with doing!!!

I'd do it... why not, she's your sister. It's not like getting ready at a stranger's house. And I'm sure you have lots of memories in your house so it might be nice to build some in hers!

You have to go with what you feel more comfortable with. MY MOH suggested that the bridal party stay at a hotel which is closer to the venue. Since we are coming from Brooklyn it makes sense because we won't have to worry about the traffic going in to LI from Bklyn.
Then another side of me wants to leave from my house.

I hear what you are saying about taking pics in the house that you live at but due to the convinience taking pics at your sister's house will be the best way you can go. May be you can take some 'non-pro' pics at your house....if you are not to far from your sisters?

I would do your sister house because it is closer. But if means alot to you to get married at your mother house then do what it is best as far as pictures you should not worry about that it would still be beautiful.

I am getting ready at my mom's house, not my apt because my apt is in the city and the wedding is in suffolk. It would be fine at my mom's house if she were still in the house I grew up in in Woodbury, but she just moved to Smithtown and the house is not as 'homey' to me. But I will have to make do.
I think you should get ready where you will feel most comfortable and be most happy with pictures of. If you are comfortable at my sis' house, then I would do it, since you said its really nice and really close to the church!
