Melanine, I am doing a Shakespearean themed wedding.

A, I was thinking exactly that- to use ivory paper, maybe with embossed gold font. I just have to make sure the lettering is easy to read.

also, the sticks in the pics are actually cinnamon sticks...I think that's cute, but more for fall. I am going to go with wood

My FH's cousin had those invites for their wedding (getting married in Italy this Aug) and everyone really loved them. They are different and people noticed.

The also did a wine bottle save the date. A full size wine bottle that you opened the cork and pulled out the save the date....they cost over $8 each just to mail!!

But they were cool!!

thanks ladies- keep the thoughts coming. my only concern is that people will think it's a costume ball, which it's not.

My sister just had invites like these, everyone loved them! Don't worry no one showed up in a costume ball dress.

A friend of mine used theses...very elegant and classy. They did cost her much more to mail each of them.

thankfully in Elizabethan times, invites were hand-delivered, so all of those within reasonable driving/walking distance will receive it directly from me and fh- I will only mail it to co-workers and OOT'ers.

I really like your whole idea and concept. I'd be thrilled to get one of these.
