What do you give as a shower gift when..

Its someone pretty close to you and you want it to be personal but still really nice??
Everything she registered for is so impersonal.. and alot of the big stuff has already been bought.

Re: What do you give as a shower gift when..

My mom & I once bought all of someone's kitchen gadgets & utensils (I mean all of them...) and put them in a huge basket with a cookbook. It was a nice way to spend as much as we would have on something big but buy up a bunch of small stuff on the registry

Re: What do you give as a shower gift when..

i got my girlfriend a beautiful silk bathrobe/kimono for her shower. She was SO happy, especially after having opened 10 boxes of towels and sheets - it ended up being her only 'personal' gift.

Personally, i think a shower should 'shower' the bride with fun, pampering things as well as towels. you know?

See if they got their unity candle, card box, or cake server set yet. Or toasting flutes. You can have the cake server set engraved for them.

Also the candle poem is a very personal gift and so far every shower I have given it at the bride cherished it.

Re: What do you give as a shower gift when..

I didn't get any personal gifts at my shower and I was really disappointed. I would have gladly given up the stupid $50 cutting board for a Soon To Be sweatsuit.

I agree thats why I want to do something like this for her. I dont think the other people invited at they type to do something personal.. just buy everything off the registry.

whats the candle poem??

I think this is what she was talking about.
You fill a basket with the candles it mentions in the poem. I did it for my MOH for her wedding (we couldn't have a shower for her - logistical problems) but I put this together and she loved it - her mom thought it was so cute - she was in tears.

A basket of candles tha come in a pair
In all different colors, for you two to share
The white ones burn first
They are wrapped in white lace
To celebrate your first married night
In your new chosen place.
The green pair is taller, and also much thinner
Burn with the first company you have over for dinner
The dark blue candles are for after your first fight
Use them to burn while making up all night
Pink candles set the mood and pave the way
For your first married Valentine's Day
Now, when your first year of marriage is through
the cream anniversary pair will light for you two.
Red candles aflame, both your futures are bright
Celebrate promotions you've worked toward with all of your might.
By this time we hope, maybe, just maybe
You can light the purple ones, on the birth of your baby.
And just when you thought you'd put these away
Take the light blue ones out for your fifth anniversary day.
Now just one more pair left for the big 25
The anniversary pair that will keep your love alive.
Congratulations bride and groom (enter names)
On the start of your forever
May the two of you always be happy together
And burn these candles
Just the way we said
But please don't forget - blow them out before bed!!

FYI - when I went to the yankee candle shop to look for some of the candles - they actually had a pre-made one.

Re: What do you give as a shower gift when..

that candle poem is really nice.

i'd say either buy a bunch of small things off her registry and then personalize them.. or also just get something special for her.. like a day of beauty or something along those lines.

Re: What do you give as a shower gift when..

I actually got the candle basket (a home made one) for my shower and it was great!! My bridal party knew I was a candle lover so they knew it would go over well.

Not that I didn't love everything that I got - I think out of things that I got I really like things that came in a basket - I know the people that made it - put in the extra time and care to put it together

Re: What do you give as a shower gift when..

Actually I made it myself and it cost about $25. That was with Yankee Candles for everthing but the green and silver ones.
