What do you have in front of your sliding glass doors?
The previous owner left us their crappy Vertical blinds which keep breaking off and not opening properly.....the slider is about 6ft and on a raised deck...you can see right in from the yard so I want to cover it now...curtains just seem too long and silly with our dog.
What are some other options besides verticals???

the house we are purchasing has mini vertical blinds built into the sliding glass doors. not sure of the correct name but they are pretty cool. you could always add a sheer or light fabric curtains.

We have grills on the door to make it look like french doors and we have a white fluted curtain rod with tie top curtains hanging up. Here's a pic

We have french doors that open up fully (we replaced the sliding glass doors). It leads to the back deck off our dining room. We open up the doors all summer (it's screened too) and so we didn't want verticals or curtains to be in the way. The curtain we hung on a rod, so we can push them to the side when we open up the doors. For now they look like this:

I looove french doors!! I want one in our DR so bad! But we're putting off buying one because we're thinking about putting on an extension off the back of the house. So until we decide what to do, no french doors for me. But I love them and love the waitnscotting in your DR too! Don't you just love wainscotting?

I really love those built in blinds too! Two of our friends have them, I think I want to look in to getting them too.

Where did you get the grills? I think I want to do this to our storm door. It is all glass and I think it would look nice with the grills.

I have pleated drapes - the fold up really nice so the door is still easy to use in the summer.

We bought them at Home Depot, we had to order them (I dont know if they just don't keep them in stock or if ours were a special size though)

I am having the same trouble. Here is a picture of what I had before we painted. When we painted, I removed the old curtain rod and have not found anything that seems right to me.

that question was for Niecey with the folded drapes...
and curtains just won't work...becuase thta's the door the dog goes in and out of ALOT!!!
I love the idea of making it a 'faux' french door...but that won't stop the visibiltiy factor...

I just ordered these curtains for our french doors Right now there are verticals, they are very unattractive

sorry -I don't have a picture of mine. I had nothing covering my doors for over a year because I couldn't find anything tht gave me privacy and kept the doors useable that weren't vertical blinds or that matched my room. If I have time later I can try and take a picture.
what I have is pleated drapes - they are very defined in the pleat so the fold together nicely and I have metal holdbacks for when I want them open (which isn't 100% necessary - just looks nice since it matches the curtain rod). The top is on hooks attached to rings - so they slide easily on he rod. I can push them open in the middle or all to one side.

Re: What do you have in front of your sliding glass doors?
We have drape BUT we have them on large rings that slide easier than the vertical blinds. I also have wooden tye backs next to the doors so that the curtains stay open all day.
