What do you miss most about not being a kid at christmas anymore?
I miss the whole santa thing we have been talking about, I miss my mom reading us twas the night before christmas on christmas eve right before bed time and I miss all those toys I used to play with for weeks after!
Sometimes I feel like that Faith Hill song made for the grinch movie..Where are you Christmas...its so sad...its like you have to find it all over again.

I miss getting excited over TOYS!!! It's just not the same to get a sweater, as nice as it may be!!! I miss the excitement of it all... it's just not there for me in the same way...
But what I love about it now, is just the whole family getting together and making another holiday memory...

I miss the silliness of waking up at 4 AM!!! .. the gang wake-up calls between me and my siblings .. those who were up first .. always woke up the 'late' risers in some not-so-nice way .. we'd then eagerly go through our stockings .. we were allowed to do that before mom and dad were up .. then it was time to get mom and dad out of bed for the 'real' presents.
Of couse .. these days I'm only going to bed at 4 AM .. so there are no more silly early Christmas mornings for me!

I miss my mom and way she made Christmas into a day long celebration. I miss the anticipation of waiting for that one special gift I wanted and the wonderful excitment of finding it under the tree.
I tried very hard to give that same experience to my children and that became my favorite part of the holidays. Now my children are grown and Christmas is a lot quieter. No more cookie baking and decorating, no more leaving cookies and milk for Santa. It's different.

My dad always had these crazy stories about his run-ins with Santa every year!!! My dad (the insomniac) was the type that fell asleep in the living room with the t.v. on! We used to ask him every year if he would see Santa come in the apt. He would say yes, but that Santa would sprinkle magic dust on him to make him fall asleep so he wouldn't see what Santa was doing!!! For years, my brother was scared to come into the living room early morning because Santa might sprinkle the magic dust!!! My brother was scared!!! Also, Santa would eat our cookies and make a mess, spilling the milk and leaving crumbs!!! He always thanked us with a note!!! Mrs. Claus and the elves always left us gifts too!!!

I miss 'Santa'- I cant wait to have kids so that I can be 'santa'- I miss the excitment of it all- It just doesnt seem as exciting anymore- sometimes it feels like more of a hassle than anything else

Definitely believing in Santa. I remember trying to stay awake as long as possible looking out the window for Rudolph's red nose in the sky
My Father used to go up on our roof and pretend to be Santa too. He would bring up jingle bells and HO HO HO away. It was the biggest joke in our neighborhood

OMG Stacey that is hysterical about your Dad!!!!
I definitely miss waking my parents up at 6am to open gifts.....they had to set a 9:00 open presents time b/c my brother and I used to wake them up too early LOL.
This is my first year where I won't be waking up at my parents house and opening gifts with them so I'm kinda depressed b/c I will miss waking them up with my brother by jumping into their bed and then opening gifts and having a nice breakfast together.

I agree! I miss the days when my parents were together and both sides of my large extended family would get together and all the chaos, the large meals, piles of gifts, etc... Now it's so much more subdued.

I miss it all - that's why when it comes to Chrsitmas I still pretend I'm a kid and I still get excited over everything! On Friday, my studetns bought me all sorts of presents and it was like I was back in 7th grade with them! I got all giddy about the silliest little gift....but it felt so good. I hope I never get old enough where I lose that..... i also turn into a huge brat when it comes to my birthday.....anytime I know I'm going to be getting presents!!!

I miss the traditional family stuff. When I was a kid, the whole family used to get together and ate all wonderful foods my grandmother made and we just enjoyed each other. Saldly, mt family has deteriorated over the years and most of those people have passed on, so we don't have anything like we used to. Now that I am starting this new life with FH and we will eventually have kids, I am trying to start bringing back all the old traditions. So, what it comes down to, that I miss the most, is my family!!

i dont really feel like im missing it.....
we still get giffts from santa at fh's house... and fhs cousins are young so santa leaves a gift under the tree and candy bagged outside with a note that he 'couldnt not stop by and stay but dropped these off',,, so we get those from santa too!
