out of the blue yesterday my FH was saying how we have to register soon. i said that i want to register very smart since there will only be 45 women invited to the shower. so he turned around and said, well we can tell people to bring us gifts at the wedding too.
i think he is crazy. i prefer people to give us monetary wedding gifts.
i told him that every wedding we have been too i have never seen anyone bring presents. so he wants to include the registry info with the wedding invitation too.
do you prefer presents or monetary wedding gifts??

Most people usually give money as a gift at the wedding b/c it 'pays for their plate.' Also, it's common to do that to help the new couple pay for a house.
With that said, to me it doesn't make a difference. FH and I are lucky enough that my parents are paying for the wedding, and we already have a house. So whatever money we do get will all go to savings.
We have brought actual gifts to weddings, and we've given money at weddings. I think it's just a personal preference.
Remember though, since you have over a year til your wedding, people can buy you and FH things off your registry for other occasions too, not just the shower. E-Party, Birthdays, Christmas, etc. We bought something off of our friend's registry for them as their Christmas present this year. It just makes picking out presents so much easier
ETA: I would not, however, add the registry info to the wedding invite. If people need to know where you're registered who aren't invited to the bridal shower, they can find out other ways.

I'll be honest, at the wedding I really hope to ONLY get money. Of course, I won't specifically tell people this but its pretty known in my family at least that just money is given. The bridal shower is meant for registry gifts.

I'll be honest, at the wedding I really hope to ONLY get money. Of course, I won't specifically tell people this but its pretty known in my family at least that just money is given. The bridal shower is meant for registry gifts.

This is the exact reason I told my mom and colleague to make my shower a few months before the wedding {i'm hoping march-early may}.
You'd be surprised how much stuff you can get off your registry with 45 people, so I don't think you have much to worry about.
Like the other girls have said, DO NOT put registry info with your invite. It looks really bad. Your guest will know how to seek out where you're registered. And most people give money at weddings anyway.

Monetary all the way.
IMO, and against its just my opinion, i would be a little taken back if i received a note letting me know where you were registered with the wedding invitation. 90% of the guests will already know where you two are registered. By putting it in again i think it just gives the feel of you guys asking for more things (even though i know you guys aren't and just trying to make it more convienent actually)

It doesn't matter either way. I've seen both money and gifts given at a wedding. When my friends got married last year, I gave them antique kimonos that I had gotten them from Japan along with money. They really loved it.
