What do you sell on ebay?

I've got some old cell phones up there right now and I'll be putting up some wedding stuff that I don't need anymore....

but what are some of the things you've sold?
anything that surprised you and got more than you expected??

I sold some old liqour bottles my mom was throwing away...they went for anywhere from $5 to $25 each. That was the most surprising thing. I didn't think they would be worth anything at all.
The rest of the stuff I have sold went for 'normal' amounts. Not too much or too little.
I do love selling on ebay though, I have to admit.

I've sold clothes that I've bought or gotten as gifts and never wore. Figured I'd never wear it so might as well make some money from it

I just sold on ebay my jetski's and made $700.00 more than what I paid for them 3 years ago!! U would be surprised what people sell!! But it is alot of work checking your email getting back to people I would definitely have to make it a full time job! But the pay off for these things were worth it!!

How do you guys ship? Post office or UPS? How do you predict cost of shipping? Do you pack it up and weigh it before you start the auction? Shipping seems like a lot of work. That is why I did not start selling yet. I have alot to sell though!!!

Re: What do you sell on ebay?

I weigh the packages on my scale at home and estimate the shipping costs. I add in the estimated cost of the packaging materials.

Lately, I have been trying to ship priority since you can get the packaging for free as well as free delivery confirmation if you print the label online.

Anything really bulky, I ship UPS (again guess the cost based on weight). There's a UPS store close to my house and DH works p/t at an authorized drop location for larger parcels.

Right now I am all over the place with the shipping which I am trying to get straightened out. It's definitely work getting everything packed and shipped efficiently and adequately. I am crossing my fingers on one fragile package I shipped last week

I have to keep reminding myself that it is all found money. If I didn't sell this stuff, I would be throwing it or giving it away so if I pay more for shipping then I received I try not to sweat it.

This was a huge problem for me. The last thing I sold I bought the shipping confirmation, and she never received the item. Two months later, after giving me a bad review, she received it after it was repackaged by the post office (package was torn in shipping--a big padded manila envelope). I just predict shipping, and see what everyone else charges for shipping the same items...

So do you pack it up at the post office? And then ship it from there? Do you do this during your lunch break?

Re: What do you sell on ebay?

I try to pack everything at home and go to the post office during my lunch break. I try to sell smallish items so this isn't too big a deal.

Bigger items I ship UPS I pack at home & DH takes or I drop them at the UPS store.

Thanks so much. It sounds like a lot of work. I might try to sell my first item this week...
