what do you tell people who ask you..

where u'r registered?

fh and i aren't registered anywhere.. we don't really want to.. i find it impossible to pick out patterns and colors for a kitchen i don't have yet. and since i've been living on my own for 5 yrs i have all the towels, and comforters and silverware i could possibly need.

but my mom's family and fh's family keeps asking us where' we're registered.. i keep telling my mom nowhere.. ud think she'd be able to repeat this information.. but everytime she gets off the phone and says are u sure u'r not registered any where (yeah i think i'd know) because so and so just asked..

any one else dealing with this?

I don't want to register either because I have owned my own home for 5 years and I have almost everything. My family says I have to. So I am doing it to make them happy. I am going to register for a queen or king size bed, comforter sets (can never have too many of them) and new pots because mine are a few years old. It's hard though.

At the beginning I felt like that too- because we both have lived on our own for years and thought we had everything that we needed- but honestly, some people are going to buy you gifts no matter what- so you are better off registering and getting what you want... think for the future when you host parties, maybe register for sterling, fine crystal glasses and bowls and serving platters, maybe some of your appliances are out dated and its time for new. even everyday dishes- can never have enough of that stuff because it will not all last forever. hth

we have been living together as well and didnt really need that much stuff, but when we moved in, we were poor so its nice to be able to upgrade our cookware and knives and stuff. aside from that, we also did a honeymoon registry. the monetary gifts will come in handy and the person giving will feel like they are contributing to something, rather than just giving cash.

I would encourage everyone to register otherwise you'll end up getting a bunch of things you dont want and doubles of it. Do a different type of registry like a honeymoon registry or a specialty store. Most stores have regstres now.

Do a Bed Bath and Beyond Registry---if you have everything you need. then you can register for fun gadgets and such extra for your kitchen......AND anything that is purchased off your registry you can return for $$$$$$$$$$$

soooooooo -- ppl can buy you stuff and if you don't need it, just bring it back to BBB and get the straight cash for it!

We registered... but people haven't really asked since our e-party.

We sent our STDs with our e-party invites, and they had our wedding website address on them. Our website has direct links to our registries (not just the general store links)

well you are having a shower soon? right? im guessing by your wedding date...i guess thats why they keep asking you, i guess they just don't know how to respond bc now they're thinking what do they get you for your shower...honestly ppl are going to get you things for your shower regardles, nobodies gonna show up empty handed, so its better off to register and this way at least get things you'll want rather than tons of things you don't want and also most likely getting lots of the same gifts...you dont have to register for typical things like bedding, towels or whatever but there are lots of things that you might not have and you can register for...i have tons of things that not everybody necessarily has in their house such as ice cream maker, quesadilla maker, wine refrigerator, you can get another set of plates, we put this asian style plates. Vases, photo albums for your wedding pics and frames, your toasting flutes, knife and cake server, deep fryer, pizza oven, panini grill and so on but i think you get the point...i am sure if you go on sites and look at all their stuff you'll see a bunch of things you can register for and you can do it online...make sure to also check out crate and barrel bc they have alot of different things.

i even have things like lobster pot, the oxo fat separator, theres alot of new cooking gadets, luggage, buffet servers, massage chair and etc

Exactly. We kinda had the same idea....we know people are going to buy us gifts anyway, so we picked out some stuff like cookware and china we know we want, and then we will return stuff we don't want for store credit or $$.

most people will get you gifts (especially at the shower) even if you are not registered anywhere..i would register anyway just to get stuff you like! For my engagement party, we weren't registered anywhere and along with money we did get a ton of things for the home..that i personally don't like!

wait are they saying you forgot to put registry info in the wedding invite? im guessing so since you said they're not invited to the shower, well registry info doesn't go in wedding invites so just have your mom tell them that. But regardless you are having a shower and ppl are gonna buy you things...better to put things on a registry rather than ending up with 10 toasters, tons of sets of stemware and so on

You could do a honeymoon registry

Re: what do you tell people who ask you..

Yea I have a honeymoon registry, and no 'real' one. Our families have mixed feelings on it, my mother really wants us to have a traditional registry for the older family members who don't really understand the hm one or how to use the internet site, but my FH is totally oppossed since we don't have the room in our apt for things we don't need. Like everyone has said though, if guests really want to bring a an actual gift they will do it anyway ,so I'm kinda afraid for the surprise things we receive
