Original post by iwannabmrsD

where u'r registered?

fh and i aren't registered anywhere.. we don't really want to.. i find it impossible to pick out patterns and colors for a kitchen i don't have yet. and since i've been living on my own for 5 yrs i have all the towels, and comforters and silverware i could possibly need.

but my mom's family and fh's family keeps asking us where' we're registered.. i keep telling my mom nowhere.. ud think she'd be able to repeat this information.. but everytime she gets off the phone and says are u sure u'r not registered any where (yeah i think i'd know) because so and so just asked..

any one else dealing with this?

well you are having a shower soon? right? im guessing by your wedding date...i guess thats why they keep asking you, i guess they just don't know how to respond bc now they're thinking what do they get you for your shower...honestly ppl are going to get you things for your shower regardles, nobodies gonna show up empty handed, so its better off to register and this way at least get things you'll want rather than tons of things you don't want and also most likely getting lots of the same gifts...you dont have to register for typical things like bedding, towels or whatever but there are lots of things that you might not have and you can register for...i have tons of things that not everybody necessarily has in their house such as ice cream maker, quesadilla maker, wine refrigerator, you can get another set of plates, we put this asian style plates. Vases, photo albums for your wedding pics and frames, your toasting flutes, knife and cake server, deep fryer, pizza oven, panini grill and so on but i think you get the point...i am sure if you go on sites and look at all their stuff you'll see a bunch of things you can register for and you can do it online...make sure to also check out crate and barrel bc they have alot of different things.

i even have things like lobster pot, the oxo fat separator, theres alot of new cooking gadets, luggage, buffet servers, massage chair and etc

yeah but these arne't peopel who would be coming to the bridal shower! i can understand bridal shower attendees.. but not my momma's best friend from 10 yrs ago.. smh.. just old school as my ffil said.. some people are calling my inlaws and my mom to tell us we forgot to put the registry card in with the invite. but i'm going to go ahead and register for some upscale sort of things.. and see what happens..

thanks ladies.. ya'll are the best!

wait are they saying you forgot to put registry info in the wedding invite? im guessing so since you said they're not invited to the shower, well registry info doesn't go in wedding invites so just have your mom tell them that. But regardless you are having a shower and ppl are gonna buy you things...better to put things on a registry rather than ending up with 10 toasters, tons of sets of stemware and so on

no no no... lol. i know i didn't put the registry info with the invite.. u'r not spose to.. but apparently some of my older guests think you are (?) so they are asking where am i registered adn telling the ffil's and my mom that we 'forgot it' i keep telling my mom and inlaws we didn't forget it. u'r not SUPPOSE to put it in the wedding invite.. and they keep telling me I am because that's why people are asking..

hope that makes sense.. but u're right.. i am having a shower next month and people will buy something.. so i better give them some direction on what to buy..

I decided to mess with people and registered at Wal-Mart and chose some strange stuff. A water cooler, dvd sets, bubbles. Unfortunately you have to just get it over with. I finally went to Macy's. It was pretty surreal picking stuff for the person that I will never be. Just think you can always exchange or return.

Good luck though

I was against registering at first and FMIL convinced me to and i am so happy we did....if you don't pick what you want people will pick for you and you will get tons of stuff you don't want or don't need....much more of a hassle.

I'm in the same boat -- I've furnished two apartments on my own and I love to cook so I have tons of housewares stuff.

However, FH and me are looking to buy a house, so we're registering for things like a BBQ grill, snow blower, lawn mower and stuff like that since there was no need to have any of that in a studio apartment in NYC. LOL

Do a Bed Bath and Beyond Registry---if you have everything you need. then you can register for fun gadgets and such extra for your kitchen......AND anything that is purchased off your registry you can return for $$$$$$$$$$$

soooooooo -- ppl can buy you stuff and if you don't need it, just bring it back to BBB and get the straight cash for it!

Exactly. We kinda had the same idea....we know people are going to buy us gifts anyway, so we picked out some stuff like cookware and china we know we want, and then we will return stuff we don't want for store credit or $$.

That's what we did too!!! Just registered for a bunch of things and BB&B that we didn't even need/like and returned them for cash after...

We did register at 2 other places for stuff that we did need/want but after all that was bought and there was nothing else we really needed, BB&B worked out perfect!

If I were you, I wold register at one place. Otherwise, expect to get some very random gifts! Some people prefer to buy gifts over money...
