what do you think?

what do you think?

Im having a night wedding in July CH starts at 7..

Im thinking of changing it to a day wedding. My parents have a big back yard and my brother owns a tent company. Sooo, we could have an after party and make the celebration last longer.

Any advice? Or do guests appreciate a night wedding more? I do love the lights our dj is using..hmmmm????

I'm doing a day wedding, it decreases the price and like you said, you can always have an after party....but night weddings are gorgeous! And it would be good, especially in July when it's so hot..

I think it totally depends on what you want. My room has cathedral ceilings and sky lights so it's hard to get the ambience I was after during the day. Plus I didn't feel like waking up so early for pictures. I'm not a morning person. Either way it will be a wonderful day and the money you save can go towards other areas.

i voted for the day wedding and party after cause i would want to make my wedding day last forever ... however i booked at night becausei fugre not to many people would drink for a day wedding and i felt like it was a waste of money ... i have been considering switching but then i realized i wouldntbe able to get married at the churh i wanted too ... so here a few things to think about also ...

that sounds like a really great idea!

just to play the other side of this... do you think that many people will drive to your house afterwards? or would they be more likely to stay at a bar closeby or a bar inside the RH/Hotel?

I know for me some of my cousins and friends would drive back to my house, but my aunts/uncles grandparents wouldnt. Then you have to worry about people getting back to their hotels and etc (if they've been drinking)

actually i see you booked the thatched cottage!!! (its gorgeous btw) ..i think a daytime wedidng for sure ..its on the water..l think you will appreciate the view more during the day than at night..i feel like a waterfront wedding for me was a waste at night if i couldn't enjoy the view!

Oh these are great points girls!

I also just realized..if we did change it to a day wedding, what time would the ceremony be? If its at 11, wouldn't we miss CH?

What is the price difference between a day and night anyways? is it saving you that much??

oh i dont know but that is def something to look into. If you are getting married in a church, i dont know if they do weddings earlier than that.. but they might. and if they do you are going to have to get up even earlier! hehe

I Think I like the day wedding idea. But how many people do you think will come back to the house. Will it be an added expense?

I would love to do a day wedding too...plus you can save some $$ !I've been to a few daytime weddings and I love them! I think people will booze and dance and have a great time no matter what time you have your wedding! I love the idea of a whole day of wedding though, definitely drag it out as long as you can!

Re: what do you think?

i think thats a great idea, but i still like the idea of a night time wedding. the only thing that i didnt like about the daytime weddings i went to, was that we were dancing and boozing and then the wedding was over and we went out and it was bright as light out. we were like uhh what do we do now? but your idea of continuing is great. i think either way, it'll be fun.

we are having an 11;30 mass then CH starts at 2:30 and reception ends at 7:30. I like the idea of having it early. we still have the whole night together to go out somewhere and continue the party. i think that a night wedding kinda cuts your day together short. you cant see eachother the first half of the day. at least if its an early wedding, you dont have to wait as long. Just my opinion.

I voted night wedding..

PERSONALLY.. I'm not into the daytime thing.. I feel like my day would be rushed.. I would have to wake up early.. get pics done super early..

but thats just my opinion..

good luck!

Re: what do you think?

i'm biased--cause we had a day wedding. but i just wanted to say that we had such a GREAT wedding, at about 6 pm or so...a bunch of our close family and friends went back to my parents house and we had an awesome after party!! it was a lot of fun and it gave us a chance to totally enjoy our family even more and just relax.

i think, especially in july, you could have an amazing wedding day and have a sweet time afterwards. we did have a lot of ppl tell us that they loved the daytime wedding, so they could either go home, or after party with us, and still be home by like 10-11 pm

ETA: i noticed you just mentioned lighting by the DJ, whether its day or nite, your DJ can use cool lighting. check out my review and pro pic album, and you can see the lighting that was used.

Re: what do you think?

Either is nice, but from experience, I've never had as much fun at daytime weddings. You just dont feel like its 'party time' at 12:00 in the afternoon. Also, if the CH starts around noonish, the ceremony has to start pretty early. FH and I went to a wedding in October that the ceremony started at 10:30. We had to get up soooo early to make it there on time because we were coming from OOT and it just s u c k e d. So keep that in mind for any of your guests who are coming from out of state -- they have to get up super early to get dressed and travel. That makes it even harder to party after cuz your tired. We werent in the mood to drink or party that early and then the rest of the day we felt 'off' because you leave feeling like its 10:00 at night, but its still like 3:00...

yea, good point. Ive never been to a day wedding though, so i dont know how it would be from a guests point of view.
