Hmmm... you invited her b/f personally OR did you invite her with a guest. I'm all for asking the person before I decide to do something, I don't know what's up with people sometimes.

But Jenn, if she already responded as two and then they broke up, I'm not sure if I'd let myself get upset over it. JMO! You probably won't even notice!

Well you should definatley tell her how you feel.Would you have been ok with it if she asked?

Jenn: Did the invitation say 'and guest' or did it have his name? If it said 'and guest' then technically she can bring anyone as her guest. if it had his name on it, I think that she should of asked.

I'd be shocked too.. and TOdd would be excited about the one less mouth to feed, but yes, it's an all too common occurrence.. I know alot of people who do that.. at my friend's wedding, her friend brought along another girl cause she couldn't find a date! lol

Re: What do you think?

its a tough situation - she should have asked but I can imagine she probably doesn't want to be the single gal. I broke up with a boyfriend 2 weeks prior to my cousins wedding and he asked me if I was bringing someone else. The thought had never occurred to me. I went solo and had a great time. I don't think you can tell her not to bring a date, but she really should have asked. Invitations are not transferable, but there is really nothing you can do about it except vent here.

Jenn,

I think you should politely tell her that she can't bring someone else. I don't know what your policy was on inviting people but with me if they weren't witht he person for a longtime I did not invite them.

I personally don't want any of my friends bringing someone who I don't know to my wedding. I made it quite clear to them before I sent out my invitations. Everyone understood my opinion

If I was in the situation, I would ask the bride if it was ok to do this.

When you give the and guest option to people, they pretty much think they can be as flexible as they want.

Re: What do you think?

It depends on whether she was invited with 'Guest' or him specifically.

Re: What do you think?

I had a similar situation not long ago with one of my BMs. It didn't bother me nearly as much that she wanted to bring someone else as it did that she TOLD me, not ASKED me. Some people just don't know etiquette.

if she already sent in the reply for two
then I think its okay
b/c you were expecting two so does it matter who she brings? She might feel weird being dateless

Re: What do you think?

Heres what happened.

The invite had her bf's name on it, then they were having problems, so i made another out to and guest so like she said she could bring 'another guy', a date with her.

Now i see shes bringing a girl! ?!

Re: What do you think?

oh, just let it go
she probably doesnt want to come alone and will give you a better gift for two than one most likely

Re: What do you think?

Sorry to hear this Jenn

A little confused though, she received an invite that said AND GUEST? If so, boy, girl, whatever, a guest is a guest...

Don't worry about it!

Re: What do you think?

I think if you wrote '& guest' you have to kind of accept whomever she choses to bring. I wouldn't be shocked.

Re: What do you think?

Unless it really bothers you...I would let it go. This might be the first function she has without her boyfriend and may need support.

Re: What do you think?

Don't stress it because it was already written down? I agree she just doesn't want to go alone

Re: What do you think?

I agree with Curly, 'and guest' can be anyone. You were already expecting her to bring someone anyway.

I had one guest rsvp for 2. Instead of her boyfriend she was going to bring her 16 year old daughter (aside from bringing an univited minor to an adult evening occasion, niether of them showed up )
