That has the potential to look really nice. Just make sure if you do it to have the bo-k packed nice and tight (too loose and it wont look right) and make sure its really full...I think the monogram crystal would look good like that then...

Re: What do you think
yea those are my specific instructions for the florist about my bok. that and no greenery or baby's breath! I thought the letters would look good but I wonder how they stay in the bok.

Re: What do you think
The letters (from what I've seen) are on long 'stick's'...They are long enough that they can be put right into the bo-k and be tied into the handle along with the stems... I think that it will look really modern and clean...Good idea!!

Thanks! I was worried at first about using carnations but I am on a serious budget and I wanted something a little modern looking but full and somewhat classic. I got the idea for carnations because its been around in floral ceremonies for about 2,000 years and its the state flower for Ohio which is where FH is from. The monogram will jazz it up a bit hopefully so I can have classic/modern/and affordable haha

I think that Bo-K looks wonderful. Carnations get cast a side too many times, for fancier & more expencive flowers. I'm doing my Bo-K with carnations .....love it!

You're right, carnations can def look modern and chic! I’ve seen them used many times and didn’t even realize they were carnations. Like you said, as long as you keep it simple without any greenery or baby's breath it will be beautiful.

I love this idea I was thinking the same then I went to florist and they told me even tho they arent expensive flowers if you have alot of them bc you would need alot to make tight it could still be costly

Re: What do you think
If a florist dares to charge me what I feel is too much, I will do this bo-k myself. it is really easy to do actually the picture I have is a DIY bo-k and the person who made it wasn't a flower specialist of anything she just wanted something affordable. i know what carnations cost and i know that this bo-k is very simple to make and would take a florist all of 1.2 hour max to put together so I am totally prepared to haggle away

Good for you! Read this article, it may be helpful. It talks about the Flower District and how to cut costs on flowers. It also mentions carnations:
............“Carnations are often looked down upon, but they are a cost-effective way to introduce a lot of color,” notes McBride, who particularly liked this variegated variety in red and cream. “Use a lot bunched together to make them look really special.” ............
..............'We found 25 stems from South America for $9 at Associated Cut Flower Co........'

cool thanks! yea i know the cost of the flowers is rather inexpensive so I will see what florists will charge me but if I'm not satisfied, its an easy enough bo-k that i can do it on my own. Thanks again!!
