What do you think...

What do you think...

My BM told me when we signed the contract their was nothing we could do about the 8pm start time. Is it just the old lady in me that is worried or is it the fact that the old ladies at my party will never make it?

Mine starts at 8pm too. Our cocktail starts at 7pm and reception is at 8. We are going to do our pictures from 5-7 right after the church. Most wedding end b/w 11 and midnight anyway when at night.

well my CH will start at 8:30p and reception will end at 2:30a! but i did it like this b/c my wedding is on a friday night. I'm not worried about the older ppl leaving early b/c the younger crowd will stay to the end.

For me, I wanted a CH while there was still some daylight left. I like the idea of people enjoying what's left of the sun and being able to sit outside, which is why I chose to have my CH at 6:30.

If 8pm works for you, then go for it. Just need to decide what's important to you.

I dont think it is...when you start to get to9 I would say yes. My friend's started really late and a lot of her fam complained but we all managed just fine and I don't really think anybody left early.

People are going to complain about something. I'd rather them complain about start time and then realize its no big deal once they are dancing their butts off

Whether it starts early or late if they love you they will be there.

This is very true. I know we are all going to have a blast. There is just a lot of time between the ceremony and the reception. It is perfect for me because I will have all the time I need to take photo's!!

Thank you- This put a smile on my face and eased my worries!

don't sweat it. i was getting heat because my ceremony doesn't start until 6:30 at the earliest and my reception will go until at least midnight.

i know it's not a problem for my friends and i but my parents were concerned about elder relatives. i think to make them happy, i'll have a bus transport guests that want to leave early pick them up at 11ish.

In my opinion it depends on what day of the week. On a Friday after work I don't think I would make it but if I knew I had a late wedding Saturday I would relax and sleep late.

Our reception starts at 8:30. At first I was concerned, but my dad came up with the idea of putting the start time on the invitation, rather than 'reception to follow'...at least it gives the guests a heads up that it's going to be a late night. HTH.

As long as it's on a Friday or Saturday and most people don't have work the next day I think it will be fine. Mine is late too.

i dont think it will be an issue. A wedding is a night out to older people, everyone is prepaired to stay out late. I wish i could have my party go a little later to be honest!
