I was thinking about getting either a belly dancer (nice not trashy) or salsa dancers to do a little show while everyone eats. I thought it would add a nice touch and FI and I could have a little break.. about 10-15 min dance.. Would this be a good idea? did anyone ever do this or see this done? LEt me know...
OMG I wanted to have Belly Dancers too at my wedding during dinner hour but i cant find them.... I have Argintine Tango dancers (my aunt and uncle comming from Argintina~ I cant wait...) Anyway, Dance Jock of Deer park quoted me an outragious price for 1 hour (i only wanted a 15-20 min dance)...PLEASE let me know if you find anything too .... AND i am not looking for a stripper either (can you imagin that??) BTW I think its a pretty cool idea...

Re: What do you think about dancers?
Good, I thought it would be such a good touch.. We want to make our guests and i think that would be the touch.. I haven't been to a wedding yet.. ANd it gives us a break away from chatting for 15 mins. i heard that Stan Weist music has some I'm going to call.. I'll get back to you with the info.. Thanks, you made up my mind.. I'M DOING IT.. if it's not too much.. If you don't mind me asking.. how much were you quoted.. that may also make up my mind..

I can't help you in finding dancers...but I think it's a great idea!
i think it was either $ 250.00 or 350.00 for one hour ! even if we use them for 15 mins. What price did you get from Sam Weist???

Re: What do you think about dancers?
I just took this Bellydancer's Workout so the person who started this new type of workout could probably get you some leads on finding bellydancer for you.
The website is to the particular workout but you can contact them to see if someone they know would be interested in dancing at a wedding.
I think you have to gauge it by your guests, whom you obviously know the best. I'm not sure, with my guests, this would come across as tasteful. I'm not saying I don't think it is, I just think you need to consider your guests' thought process.

I am not sure if it is still there, but Sasha's Belly Dancers in Centereach. They provide 1 or 2 dancers for 1 hour for $150. It was along time ago (3 years). Cute idea though.

Re: What do you think about dancers?
My cousin had 2 belly dancers at her wedding. Her husband is of Arabic decent, but Greek Orthodox. It was so cool (I know it sounds like I'm a teenager). Everyone at the wedding loved it.

Re: What do you think about dancers?
I'm pretty sure Absolute DJ (or something like that) has dancers...not sure how many different kinds but I saw them at a showcase and they were pretty good... they are a vendor on here...
I agree with what was said about knowing your guests... I know this wouldn't go over as well with my guests but you know your guests way better than we do!

Re: What do you think about dancers?
I am a big fan of a show during dinner! I am doing something @ dinner time too...just not dancers---I am doing a singer. Unfortunately, I cant help you with any referrals, because I know nothing about bellydancers!!! But I just wanted to say--You should definately go for it. These are the types of details that make a wedding not seem so 'cookie-cutter'!
