I let my FH pick the wedding song. I gave hime ONE thing to do and he said 'A groovy kind of love' Its pretty, but I dont care so much for the words.
Then I was watching TV last night and I think it was Rod Stewart who sang, 'You're in my heart, you'r ein my soul, you'll be my breath when I grow old, you are my lover, your my best friend, your in my soul.'
I thought it was so sweet. Im going to have to find the rest of the lyrics. Do you think this would be an o.k. wedding song, or should I just add it to the DJs regular list and keep looking?

Dont be sorry LOL I agree, I just didnt want to hurt FHs feelings. Hes even practicing it on the guitar now LOL
He just threw it out there though. It didnt seem as he put much thought into it, but he swears he loves it.

I've heard the Rod Stewart one (I guess I'm one of the older brides to be LOL) & I think it's nice. Is the groovy kind of love by Phil Collins? I'm not crazy about that. I'm sure the two of you will find one you both love.

My FH likes groovy kind of love, too. We already chose our wedding song, but we're using that one in our video.
The Rod Stewart song is a great choice!

I actually like Groovy Kind of Love. But, either way, if you're saying that this is basically the only decision your FH has been allowed to make, and he's so excited that he's actually already practicing it on the guitar, don't you think you should do what he wants to do? It's not like you have another song you're dying to use already picked out...
I'm not directing this just toward you because I've seen it sooooo often on the boards but please keep in mind - it's the groom's wedding too, not just the bride's. I think they should have a say in everything equally. And, if you're not willing to do that, at least let him do the one thing you asked him to do. JMHO.

I am going to leave it up to him, just thought I might suggest other songs. I guess I dont think the song is super important anyway.

Bottom line it it's you and FH's day and if that's what he wants and you're okay withyou should go for it. Is it worth potentially hurting his feelings?

i think whatever song speaks to a couple should be their song, regardless of whether other people think it is a 'wedding-y' song or not. You know? If you both like it, go for it. If not, keep looking. It should be a mutual choice.

I like Groovy Kind of Love! FH just nixed anything Phil Collins or Elton John. The Rod Stewart song has always been a favorite! The words are very suitable too.
