What do you think about tree and lawn spraying?
You know, they come around and spray your trees and treat your lawn against bugs, ticks, etc. Does anyone do it? I can't decide if its a good thing or not.

We moved into our house last summer and we have no clue if and how often the previous owners did this. So we didn't do anything - figured we would deal with it next year - we have too much else to deal with. We did get bugs in our shrubs that started eating away at them. Thank goodness DH is observant and noticed them. We just bagged on and brought it to the local nursery and they gave us what we needed (plus he said with our type sof shrubs and the rain we got last year - it was very common). They also gave us a quick lesson on what to use and when (DH's mother told us similar). We got a second bug infestment later in the season and we just treated it again. So last summer and fall we did all our treatments ourselves. I think we are going to get someone in periodically- at least in the beginning of the spring and before the winter. Just to give them the proper treatments.
My hubby does this as part of his service. He doesnt do tree spraying for ticks anymore.
We get it done. The guy comes like 5 times in a season and we've used him for 2 years now. He uses some 'more natura' mix which is a bunch of oils, etc. I don't know how good he is. I mean, in general we don't have too many bugs but a couple of our trees were just ravaged by spider mites last year and I would think the spray should have prevented that. We may change guys this year...we think it's worth it keeping the general bug population down.
