Just curious . . . has anyone thought of doing a wedding signature plate instead of a guest book? Or, has anyone seen one in person? If so, what do you think of them. I looked at them at celebrationplates.com TIA

We're doing that.
Edit: I didn't see the plate yet. My mom bought it for us and she has it stored with the other wedding stuff in a closet somewhere. All I know is it has my name and FI's name engraved on it with our wedding date. It needs special markers too which I think might come with it. After the wedding you bake it in the oven to seal the names on it.

I had never seen the plate before, but FH and I are considering doing a sign-in frame. It is about 20'x20' and has a 5x7 photo of us in the center. Guests would sign around the photo on the mat.

You're loved! I just never saw a plate before, and I love the idea of the wish bowl so I can make a scrapbook of all our guests' sayings!

The last wedding I went to had a signature plate, but no one ended up signing it b/c no one knew what it was for. I think it's a great keepsake and a great idea, but I would put a sign next to it advising what it's for, or have the DJ make an announcement.

We did the sign in mat from pottery barn and people loved it. We have it hanging in our home and everyone always comments on it when they come over.
I think that the sign in plate is just as awesome an idea!! Go for it!!

Thank you ladies I feel a thousand times better now . . . my only worry was that I had never seen one before and thought others (like guests) might think it is strange/weird etc. and not know what to do with it. . . maybe I can make some kind of placard to place next to it. Although it is also kind of scary to think that it might break some day. . . yikes. . .
I also loved the idea of the wishbowl and the picture frame. . . but I know me, I'd say I was going to make a scrapbook. . . and I wouldn't And we thought of doing the frame but then saw the plate and found that I could actually use it for special occasions not just for decoration. . . and I love to cook so that is perfect for me. . .

I agree...the same goes for putting favors in a basket...people don't always know if/when they can take them and will therefore NOT take them.

I did the signed picture frame instead. I wouldnt use the book because its just put away. We did hang up our picture and I love how it looks.

I am undecided. I want to do a wish bowl and a plate but FH thinks that is 'too much' We will decide when our date is a bit closer . . .Or I will decide and just not tell him!

i did a guest book...i was gonna do a frame...but in a guest book the people can write more....and im more traditional! I think the plate is a nice idea......but theres not a lot of room to write on it
