What do you think - Bagpipers at reception?
So I have been thinking about having a bag piper and drums to surprise my Husband (awww) and guests at the reception. After dinner they would come in and play for 10-15 minutes. He loves bagpipers and so does my Mom. I got the idea from Bethsiar who said it was amazing and everyone loved it. What do you think? Here are two pics from Beth's wedding with the bagpipers.

Re: What do you think - Bagpipers at reception?
Absolutely!!!
My FH is a Nassau County Cop and at all their weddings the Nassau County Pipe and Drum Band comes and plays.
It is great every time and everyone loves it.
My Father also plays the Pipes so being a part of my childhood it is a must have at our wedding! It's something I am so excited for.
I can’t tell you enough how much everyone loves it!! Definitely go for it. You wont regret it!!!
ETS: It's also a nice touch outside the church. My dad will be piping me out of the church. And at the last wedding she had a piper playing outside while they did the receiving line. It was really nice!

LOVE the idea -- but I think Beth's husband is a policeman and that was why they did it -- I think it is traditional for them. Are you Scottish or is FI?

Re: What do you think - Bagpipers at reception?
I would say yes DEFINITELY if either the bride or groom is Irish, Scottish, FDNY, NYPD because not only will they love it but the family(ies) will love it too. My friend's husband did this for her as a way to honor her Irish family (he wasn't Irish). He scored major points with her grandma

I think bagpipers are great for the outdoors. You gotta remember, they are extremely loud so indoors, the sound could be deafining. However, I think it would be a cool idea.

Kim, they're great either inside or out! We have a terrific pipe band at my Hibernian division and we always have them play before dinner at our events and it's chilling to hear them.P.S.: I can probably help if you need someone.
