So, my original photographer accidentally double booked on my wedding date so I am in the process of finding another photographer. The original photographer was very very apologetic and I understand that things can happen.
With that being said, I do love the original photographer's work and was offered a discount on an engagement photo session.
Would it be weird to hire this person just for engagement photos and another photographer for my wedding?
WELL Keep in mind that e-pics are usually included with a package so you might get them for free with the photographer you hire

Totally. One of the photographers doesn't have it in their package and the other does. So if I go with Danny Weiss, it's included. If I go with Barnaby, it's not included, it's an additional cost. I have to say, i was pretty upset when the original photographer double booked but I do like the work.... ALOT. I feel like the engagement shots really reflect the kinda edginess I want and the bridal photos will be more 'pretty.' Does that make sense?

Well, out of your three, I definitely have to recommend Blue Daisy…Mariann is just so nice and I can’t wait for our e-pic shoot! She has a few packages with the e-photo session included, but some that don’t have it too, so if you really wanted to stay with the original photographer for that you could.

to me the whole purpose of having the engagement shoot is so we can get to know our photographer. I am using Thomas Paul....I don't mind having my pic taken, but DF is a little camera shy...so for us, we need the day to feel comfortable etc. Keep in mind that beside your husband, your photo and video people will be the ones you spend most of your day with. I'd want to know who these people are before the most important day of my life. HTH.

i think it depends...do u want different styles...if so go for it. if u think u need to feel comfortable with your new photographer, then u might want to get to know them during an e shoot.
we're comfortable with ours so we may do epics w/someone else just to get a different style, but fh and i havent decided yet. our orig photographer dropped the package price for taking out the e pics...and will still do them for like nothing if we end up wanting to do them later.

You photo package may include e-pics (mine did not). But one of the plusses of the e-pic shoot is to get you familiar with the photog.

you know whats funny. the person i originally hired to do my e-shoot also double booked me. I got bumped out and they couldn't reschedule - for the rest of the year! I ended up going with someone else. I also did get a free one included with my wedding photographer. We'll still do that as well cuz we're camera whores.

i think that u should take epics with ur wedding day photog. so that you all get used to working with one another and he/she understands ur personalities better.... BTW- i love barnaby draper's work, the videos on the site are awesome...good luck!

Thanks! Barnaby is great and he shot all the album covers for Dave Matthews Band and did photography for John Mayer and Train also. He is awesome but a bit out of our range! I totally agree with everyone that epics with wedding day photographer is the way to go!

A lot of photographers like including the e-shoot so they can have sort of like a practice shoot to see how you guys photograph and what makes you most comfortable so you might want to book the e-shoot with whoever you end up using that way they will take the e-shoot, learn how you guys pose and learn how to work with you, and then be ready for the wedding...

You might want to ask them to throw it into your package. I know with our photographer, they didn't say anything about e-pics and when I asked, they so no problem, no extra charges. Definetely ask before thinking its not include.

Maybe use them for a day after sh oot...I have seen a few people on here get dressed up all over again and go the day after the wedding...I don't think I have seen one person who didn't love the day after pics (some even more) My rec would be to do you e-pics and wedding pics with one photog. and the day after pics with the original....they should give you an AMAZING deal for such a big screw up...negotiate
