My wedding is in about 5 months, and we are getting married at my church.....here is the problem. I do not like my church, as horrible as it is I thinks its the ugliest thing and I dont want any pictures taken there.....I have always wanted to get married at St. Patricks in Bay Shore and although FH lives in BS he is not a part of the parrish. When we first got engaged I inquired about getting married there and they told me that because we are not a part of the parrish that I would not be able to set my date until about 6 months before.....which is why we are getting married at my church now...
So here is where I need some advice....Do you think I should even try to get married there now?? Do you think it will be hard since the other church is booked (although no money was left).....Oh and do you think we can still have the priest from my church marry us there......
I am sorry this is long and probably doesnt make much sense but I think I would be much happier getting married at the church I want to. Help!!

If you really want that church then I suggest you try to book it. You are within the 6 months they told you about. I don't know why you should not try.

I don't think it would be a problem changing churches, if the one you wanted is available. I'm not sure though how easy it would be to get the priest from your original church to marry you. That would be the harder part.

I totally agree. I don't see the problem with switching your church as long as it is available, however I don't know how easy it will be to have your priest go to the other church. I am not sure if they do that.

hahahahahaha i totaly understand what you mean maryanne with your church i agree as sad as it may sound. i would see if you can switch churches. can't hurt to ask. as far as a priest i dunno about that but then agian as far as asking it can't hurt you. the worse that they can say is no.
where you having the little church or the one veronica got married in? they really do need to redo the inside its over a 100 years old. but also the one thing i do like about your church is that its still old fashoin from 100 years ago . and many churches these days are modern. to each its own. but i can totaly understand where your coming from.

If it would make you happier then I think you should try it. Although I don't think they will let your priest marry you at their church. But give it a try.
It makes perfect sense to me! If you really want to get married in that church then call them and see if it is available FIRST. Then ask them if it is ok to have a priest from your parish go there. If they say yes to both then go to your priest and ask him if he can do it. If he says yes then book the new church before you cancel the old church bc you never know what can happen in between phone calls. If everyone says yes then it's a go!
If your priest from your parish can't go and you really want to get married in a different church then use one of thier priests. Go to mass there on Sunday and talk to the people around you. Tell them you are new to the parish and would like to know who is a fun, upbeat priest. They will know. Then go to one of his sermons and see how he is.
Good Luck Maryann! I hope it all works out for you!

they worst thing that could happen is that they tell you no. you're already at 'no' now. go for it and ask. you'l kick yourself for the rest of your life if you don't at least ask one more time.
