our wedding day happens to be the exact 10yr anniversary of his cousins death when she was 13.....we would never have picked the date if he remembered...we know this will be a sensitive day for his aunt and unclle and cousins...so what can we do to honor that without it turning into a memorial....something more than just mentioning it in the program....TYIA

Re: what do you think is appropriate
Maybe light a memorial candle in his honor or have a place setting at his families table with a lit candle in his memory...

maybe a memorial candle?
I saw this little saying on a program once:
We thought of you with love today but that is nothing new, We thought about you yesterday and the days before that too. We think of you in silence. We often speak your name . Now all we have are the memeories and your picture in a frame. Your memory is our keepsake, with which we'll never part. God has you in his keeping , we have you in our hearts.

Just like Laurie said - include them in the program, and have a memory candle...they'd be honored for the rememberance.

that's so beautiful. I'm going ot do something like that for my grandmother.
AS for the cousin, maybe speak to the parents.....to let them know, otherwise they might be overwhelmed with emotion.
you can say something like, we would like to have a memorial candle (or whatever) and wanted to know if that would be ok with you........something to that effect. maybe just addressing that it's the date and you didn't mean to plan it that way will help ease any anxiety about it.........get some of thoese strong feelings out of the way BEFORE the wedding day...for them and you/FH
