I registered for the Library Stripe stemware and I want everything that goes with it, but what the heck to I use a decanter for? I don't drink red wine, so I don't want it to just sit there for $150 to 'complete the set'

Re: what do you use a decanter for?
It is to 'air out' the wine before you drink it.
So, you pour a bottle (or part of a bottle) of wine into the decanter and then allow it to 'air out' for about 30 minutes to an hour before drinking.
Also, the decanter is a 'prettier' way of serving wine than just out of the bottle.

Did you register for one? I can't decide.
I guess I could always get a plain one from crate & Barrel for $30. But I like the one that matches for $140!
If you did register for it do you use it?
I saw on Macys.com that the description for the Mikasa cheers said 'display flowers in it!' LOL

A decanter is for red wine.
It serves two purposes : - to aerate the wine. - to leave any sediment in the bottle. Red wine never gets poured to the last drop because of the sediment.

I've never heard of a decanter being used for wine.... Decanters are used for storing brandy, sherry and the like.....

They are for wine too. The wine & brandy ones come with a topper. The wine ones have a wide opening for air to get in.

Yes. Decanters are usually used for wine, brandy, sherry and the like. I like them, but we don't really have a use for them.
