What do you use for Acne break outs?
I am very prone to Acne. What do you use to wash your face with at night and in the morning? What do you use in general for skin care?

I used proactive for a long time but I found that it stopped working as well as it did. Maybe I should start to use it again.

I just started using it and I already notice a difference. It is $40 every two months for the package that I purchased, but it is worth it.

Everyday I switch using BlissLabs Low Fat line - or Dermalogica line, cleanse with facial brush, use the exfoliator, then spalsh 15 times very warm water 15 times cold.
Follow with toner. I use eye cream like crazy and leave the rest of my face alone. My skin perfect if I do this religiously.
If all eles fails and I need it taken care of ASAP I use the wash and night treatment cream my Dermatologist gave me and make an appt for him to shoot me up with some cortizone.
I also get a professional facial every 3 months. I also take orthro tricylen.

Re: What do you use for Acne break outs?
I haven't washed my face with soap since I was in jr high school - soap dries out my face.Sometimes I swab my face with witch hazel in the morning. At night I use clyndamiacin (sp?) pledgelets. For breakouts, I use rx strength Brevoxyl 10%.
I've tried Clinique and other products - they just make me break out. I have oily skin - I'm a Greasy Guinea - LOL and still I get dried out if I use anything on my face but warm water or witch hazel.
When I was on ortho-tri-cyclen I broke out worse than when I was 13 - I broke out in cyst-like zits. It was awful. My face finally cleared from the scars - but it took about 1 1/2 years of being off of it before that happened.

Re: What do you use for Acne break outs?
I never had a problem with acne. If I do get one, I cover it with Rezamid which works as a cover up as it kills the pimple. The only downfall is it is a little stinky. Hubby can smelly it on my face if he is within two feet of me. He hates that stuff.

Does this work if you break out due to hormones and lack of sleep?? I think it is also acne but it majorly flares up with those two things

I use purpose face wash, but I never really had a problem with my skin, even when I was in high school. Knock wood it's all in the genes...A friend opf mine uses Proactive and LOVES it. She swears by that stuff.

Re: What do you use for Acne break outs?
I wasted a ton of time on antibiotics- even tried Proactive. Went to the dermatologist once a month. I never had terrible acne. I just always broke out with cyst-like pimples just on my chin. Finally, I went on Accutane!!!!! It is a wonder drug. I have not had one pimple since. You only take it for five months. The only thing I regret is not using it earlier. But I figured because I didn't have awful skin I should not use it. However, I was wrong. My problem area was so recalcitrant that it was the only thing that worked.
Not only do I not have break outs. But it changes the texture of your skin. You can't see any pores and it feels incredibly soft. It is never oily.

Re: What do you use for Acne break outs?
I have terribly oily skin. Foundation slides right off of it (yeah can't wait for my wedding day- ugh)And I'm on medication that I think makes me break out. I tried proactive, I guess I have to use it long term to see if it works. I also have been on Retin A micro (prescription), didn't do jack ****. I use Rosanil (prescription) and that sorta works - it's a sulfur based medication.
If you get one once in a while - I think Duane Reade or CVS makes a benzoil peroxide (10% which is strong) cream you put on after you wash your face. Cetaphil is supposed to work wonders but I find it very greasy when I use it. But my friend swears by it.
If you breakout alot - first off try to stay off of anything made with refined sugar (most processed foods, white bread, pastas) and that might help. If not I would cut potatos and other carbs for awhile or eat sparingly.
Otherwise probably best to see a dermatologist.
Good luck
ps: I would be careful about Accutane. My dermatologist gave me this booklet about the side effects and I personally decided against taking it.
