It depends.
Like Heather said I would give more to a close friend then a co-worker.
But if it is FH and I going to a wedding- he is very generous. I think it is the Romanian in him. His family is very very generous with giving $$. They gave us what I thought was a substantial amount of $ for a wedding present just for our e-party present. So I can just imagine what they will really give as our wedding gift- and I sort of feel bad
yes romanians are quite generous when it comes to weddings, christenings or occassions where a party is in order.....

If anyone can't give more than $100...they should't go. What goes around comes around.

honestly if it a co-worker or cousin...someone I am not that close with for a regular wedding I give 300. It is a really goodfriend or family member, the least I am giving is $500. I'll break the bank for people Im close to..

also, some people assume that $100 is covering a plate and to be completly honest...thats not the case these days. I know its not covering mine

Honestly it all depends on my finances Minimum of $100 per guest attending. If we can afford more than so be it

Re: What do you usually give for a wedding gift??
i try to figure out what they paid for plate
or it also depends on what they did for the wedding also
if a couple paid for the wedding themselves..id give more that if they didnt pay for anything
and it depends on your relationship to a person as well i guess

All depends on how close we are with them and what the couple on avg has given us or friends.
I dont really believe in giving based on what kind of venue they pick b/c i dont think i should pay for someone else extravagance but id like to think we are generous.
I agree... I don't give based on where the wedding is. If someone decides to pay $200/plate or more, I don't feel I am obligated to jack up my wedding gift to them... it's their choice to pay that much. That being said, I have def given more $$ to my good friends than to someone I'm not as close to. The last 2 weddings I was in, I gave $250 from FH and I. Most people can't afford much more than that!
