What does a DOC do?

I dont think I ever gave much thought about hiring a DOC but I see that many girls have which leads to my question. What does a DOC do?

Side note - I'd love to hear about this as well. I'm on a budget but considering hiring one because I am the kind of person to stress out over little things.

They take care of anything you need the day of. My DOC is actually two people. One goes to the church to make sure everything is set and then goes to the reception hall to make sure everything is set up the way you want it. The other stays with you all day and if you need something she is there for you. If you get a stain on your dress she will get it out for you, if you forgot something she will run and get it. You can give them the envelopes for tips and they'll take care of it for you.

Also the people I went with have been helping me during the planning process. They let me know which vendors they have dealt with and the good and bad about them.

I am planning on hiring a DOC. It really isn't that expensive and I think just to have that piece of mind and know they are on your side is worth the $$.

I have read that some brides say they aren't needed because you have your bridal attendant and MD but I feel they are more their for the reception hall. With a DOC they will be there for ONLY you. Plus, even before the reception, I want to make sure everything stays in order and we stick to our timeline. I absolutely do not want to run late if it can be avoided. I get very aggravated when I feel rushed and I don't want to be like that on my wedding day.

I plan to look into a DOC after the holidays.
