year after year, i love getting them but never know what to do with them! i used to have a bookshelf that i would just clear out and line them up, but that is gone. and the card holders in the shapes of trees and such never seem to hold enough. any ideas? they always seem to get so messy! aaakkk!

The ones that I really like I recycle. What I do is I use the picture part of the card as a gift tag for a present the following year - so i cut the picture out in differnet shapes and leave enough room to write the TO: and From: . It is very cute and differnet from teh usual same old tags for presents.
ETA: OK i misunderstood your question - you meant during the Holiday Season - my dining room to living room has and arched doorway - so i just tape them on the wall nicely around the doorway -
One year I also just taped them against the wall in teh shape of a X-mas tree.

I bought a holiday card holder a few years back (don't remember where). It's a heavy cardboard with a winter scene. It's about 3' long and hangs vertically and has grooves along all the edges to stick the cards in. Works great. I usually hang it on the back of a door.

We have the cafe` style doors that seperate the dining room from the kitchen. They are kind of slatted. We slip them through so you can see them.
Afterwards, I keep some that i like and throw the rest out.

thanks girls. you are giving me some good ideas! i am thinking of stringing them with some pretty festive ribbon but don't know what to do with them next! maybe drape them around the doorway? but i could see them getting in the way and kinda annoying. i'll have to see! thanks!

what about clothespinning them on some laundry line along the wall or on small tinsel or ribbon?
I know there is a charity that accepts cards that they recycle for fundraising....they do it at my job. They accept them all year, all types of cards.

We put the bulk of them on our mantle and the rest in a metal card holder. I frame my favorites...
