Re: What does everyone think of Lynbrook & East Rockaway?
I lived a block away from ER and think it's a nice town. Lynbrook too.
Scott of Danielle&Scott lived in Lynbrook so he would know better what the schools are like. I think they are good. I think ERHS is OK too, I used to sub there ages ago and it was not bad.

I student taught at ERHS back in '96. I like that it's a small community and from what I recall, there were less than 100 kids in each grade. All the teachers and kids knew each other. It's also near the water. When FH and I were thinking about staying on LI, ER was one of the places I wanted to live.

I grew up in East Rockaway and went to Rhame Elementary and ERHS...and I thought the schools were good...I loved that the classes were small and everyone knew each other. Lynbrook is also good and I think the schools may be ranked higher than ER. FM if you have anymore questions...I'd be happy to help.

I grew up in East Rockaway too. However, I didn't go to the public schools - I went to St. Raymond's and then on to a Catholic HS.... My parents still live there and now that they are empty nesters, will be looking to sell their house (excellent location because its in walking distance to the ER and/or Centre Avenue train station).
I hope I don't get flamed for this, but my parents didn't send us to the public schools because they thought they weren't that good in all honesty. Its a very small town, as is the HS. Lynbrook on the other hand is an excellent school district. East Rockaway is district 19 and Lynbrook is 20. Be sure you know which one if the school district is important to you because you can live in ER and be in Lynbrook school district and live in Lynbrook and be in the ER school district.

I am from Lynbrook and wen to to Malverne SD. I also bought in Lynbrook with Malverne SD. Wonderful town, your own PD and public works. Look in to Malvern as well. Malverne is beautiful, but our SD is rated lower beacsue West HEmpstead/Lakeview does not have a SD and go to Malverne. The teachers were great though, and I firmly beleive your kids will learn only if they want to learn... ER is beautiful. I looked there as well...

I lived in Lynbrook for 32 years, and I went to pucblic school there. I attended William L Buck in Valley Stream, and Valley Stream South High School. The School District is 24, and it is a very good school district. My sister teaches at Carbonaro elementry school and she will tell you the same. As for Lynbrook School district, I have to say that It is a good School district too. My mother teaches at the highschool. Im not just saying the school is good because she teaches there either. I dont know anything about Lynbrooks elementry school though. Scott

I live in Lynbrook and we want to buy a house there soon. The school district is excellent so we need to find a house in the Lynbrook School District. I just moved back to Lynbrook from East Rockaway. ..parts of East Rockaway have Lynbrook schools. It has an easy commute to the LIRR . I commute to the city and it is only 40 minutes on the train.

I am from Lynbrook (now live in DC) and i went to Lynbrook public schools...i can honestly say you get a great education, the teachers are wonderful and the town itself was a great place to grow up. I would love to move back to Lynbrook with FH after we are married...but so depressed over the cost of homes. Maybe we will hit lotto??!!
